Phantom Noses

Which Phantom Nose do y'all find most aesthetically appealing?

I myself find the B/N nose to be the most appealing, with its smaller nub.

F-4S is my absolute fave, no chin pod, very sleek!

J/S and K/M are too sleek for me.

No IRST Navy jets, although for some reason I also have a soft spot for the RF-4.

Prefer a clean nose, but for the “E”, it would have to be the Midas 4 gun fairing, not the original - just looked wrong.

Clean nosed D or the J's.  Several of the D's were made without chins, Iran had a bunch of them.

Any of the big clean noses. For me the most beautiful Phantoms.

J/S/K/M and the late C and early D for me are perfection.

There was a J out there with a B/N radome though, the bicentennial bird.

I'd take an RF-4 module before an F-4E. The missions are pretty interesting, from the RF-4B to the RF-4EJ. Lots of cool stuff out there.

I will always be a fan of the F-4B, and specifically the F-4B-27-MC as flown by VF-161 and VF-51 in 1972. I also like the -13-MCs VF-142 and VF-143 flew in 1968.

J & similar.  The E is too loong.  Not as aesthetically pleasing.

its J, K & M for me. The Phantom looks much better with the short nose, plus, I think the RF-4 looks better than the F-4E

I am a sucker for the blunt nose in air force liveries. But even then, the long snout of the E is still attractive.

Originally equipped with the Bendix RHAWS, pre-herpes if I’m not mistaken.

Sure is a nice frame you and your compadres have there.

I know the D models evolved somewhat, so not sure if she came from the McD factory that way or was upgraded at some point. She is a block 28 and still fitted with the DVST radar scope.

The ‘D’ ended up with a mod that sprouted unsightly lumps in strategic locations over the airframe, majority being around the ‘chute door and all over the RHAWS chin, giving it the “Herpes riddled” moniker.

But, you are doing gods work there chap, she’s a stunner for sure.

This nose while clean has a mustache though.
