honestly why did heatblur even bother suggesting april as a release month. We all knew it would be the "worst case scenario" may.

Because if the main delay they took more than a month to fix didn't exist, it'd presumably be released a month sooner than May.

Today is the last Wed of this April…it is okay, I can wait while bracing for surprise…

Don't expect anything sooner than 22nd May at current updates schedule.

Pretty sure ED said that new module releases could be outside the normal patch schedule, so could be anytime.

Module release require a path always. you need change archives on the core to enable a module.

I can't actually remember any patch independent release 🤔

In any case, they are the absolute exception and I would not expect them.

I guess you mean that the patch that introduces a new module doesn't have to conform to the six week window, yeah? You weren't suggesting that they could do the release without releasing a patch.

I hope you're correct that they are prepared to vary the window. I'd hope ED are aware of the updated timeline for the F-4E, so if the patch schedule would prevent that timeline being met I hope they would have informed HB and we would have heard about it before now, along with a newly revised ETA. Please note however that hope is not a strategic position.

Exactly this, it'll be a patch but outside the normal 6 week cycle. Might be wrong but sure I've read that somewhere recently.

You sure it wasn't about hotfixes?

No was definitely new modules, I'll see if I can find the post.

Would be great if you can, but either way ED has the choice to alter the schedule.

@Silver_Dragon Would you know if it be a lot more work for ED to release the patch for a new module and the regular planned update separately?

If the module is ready for release, it would be commercially pointless to wait for the next patch day.

Can you remember just one single module that would have appeared independently of patch? 🤔

As far as I understand it, for a product to come out there must be a patch...

To be honest, I can't remember it. But my comment was a thought to generate money. That's what it's all about in the end. 😇

I guess it's probably a matter of testing, as small updates to DLC campaigns can't be released outside patches, for some reason. Even if they're just updated files, and won't affect the sim in any other way. It's just the same as installing a user made campaign, and copying it into the core. That said, I have no idea how intricate the file submission system ED has employed for third parties and DLC creators. We do know sometimes schedules are missed though.
