Unfortunately that is inevitable with a base device change. That is where JoyPro really shines as you can set up all your common controls across aircraft and only have to change it once when you change a device. You can even exchange devices if the button numbering matches or is close.

So is this a contender to go up against Winwing, Virpil and VKB?

Ive basically been thinking about replacing my Warthog stick base pretty much since I bought it in 2020 (I should have shopped around more) and this looks like it will just slot onto my desk mounts and is compatible with the Warthog grip.

Yes, it looks like a competent design based on the internals and the very early reviews are good. Haven't seen any longer term reviews and it is obviously too early to know about long term reliability.

It seems a little overpriced compared to the competition, but for you that shouldn't be an issue since you can reuse stuff.

I'd personally be a bit wary about spending so much for a non-FFB base right now. Perhaps the Moza or the Winwing FFB bases can be made to work with a desktop-mounting solution and then that seems way nicer than any mechanical base. And even if you are not up for that, you may see a flood of mechanical bases on the 2nd hand market for fairly low prices in the future.

But on the other hand, you can always justify waiting and then you never get anything nicer.

Replace &Joystick (or &JoystickF18) with &AVA_F16 (or &AVA_F18) in your TARGET scripts.

If you use "if" statements to interrogate buttons (eg if(Jostick[S3]...) then also replace "Joystick[" (or "JoystickF18[") with "AVA_F16[" (or  "AVA_F18[") ... depending on which flight stick you use.

Hope this helps,

Hi all,

To all AVA users who previously owned a Warthog magnetic base: impossible for me to find the info, but is there a total height difference between the warthog and the AVA base? The data indicated in the TM webstore seem to exclude the stick connector (72mm)

I currently use a Warthog base with a 70mm extender, and I planned to switch to an AVA base with the offset adapter (to benefit from the 15° angle orientation), I'd like to know what would be the total height difference for the stick.

Thanks in advance!

Get yourself one of these off ebay. And yes remove screws one at a time, put a small bit of loktite on them and re-install. Remember do not over tighten fastners with no torque value. 30-60⁰ past self rising torque, not Magilla Gorilla tight.

What part is that (clamp looking item) you added? I just got the AVA Base and discovered the same play in the shaft that comes out of the grip.
*Edit: I found it on amazon and ordered.

I use a 10cm curved extension, with F/A-18 stick, and it went from the old WartHog base right onto the new AVA base with no problems. So, I imagine the new offset will work on the WH base too.

I read somewhere that the AVA has a 5 pin instead of the 4 pin - therefor will the adapter not work on the Warthog base..

What 4-pin? TM has always used 5 pin connectors since the Cougar days. Not in the exact pin #, but even from my memory without looking it up, I can tell you the 5 pins are, V+, GND, CLK, Data, EN. That is, positive power, ground, clock (24-pulse per cycle), serial data out, and enable pins.

The truth is, AVA has a 6-pin connector. But, it's backward compatible with the old 5-pins. I currently have an old spare Warthog stick on my AVA base. And it works fine. Although I have put it aside and went back to the Warthog (don't like the absolutely no center force). I haven't reverse engineered the AVA base yet, so I don't know if the 6th pin is used for what, or used at all.

My F/A-18 stick works just fine on the AVA base, just like it did on the WH base. TARGET software works just like it did with the WH base...

Looks like it... the screw holes of the warthog are much closer together than this:

And the AVA base is a bit wider (about 4 cm)

Hi, just bought the TM AVA base for my warthog set. The old Hotas Warthog plate fits the new AVA. Size seems the same

Just installed the drivers; a huge improvement with axis behavior, some joystick buttons need reloading and axis sensitivity to be reduced. Not really cheap, but IMO worth it.

Curious if anyone changed the default hardware CAMs and springs, and why. Heavy seems fitted and working fine ...

Hi all,

I would like to know if the Virpil sticks are compatible with the new Thrusmaster base AVA ?

Any clue ?

Thx for your help

Typically, some features don't work if you use a Virpil stick on a TM base, like the axis and some more advanced button options.

But I don't really get why you would use that combo, since the Virpil bases seem superior.

I’ll check it, thanks for this tip!

Edit: I checked. I don't have anything like that in the Thrustmaster folder or in the TARGET profiles (fcf file, example included). What exactly did you write here? I use TARGET and DCS recognizes my hardware as Thrustmaster Combined. So in that case I suspect I won't have to do anything about changing anything.
