Force trim and early access

At early access launch the trim will work in a basic way, move it to desired position, press button and this becomes centre. Its a pretty standard concept for trim.
Proper trim using dafcs modes will be added later during early access development.

thank you

Thanks for the clarification.  The release notes provided did make me confused based on "force trim" being a later edition, and I was under the impression the "push button and this becomes center" was what force trim was.

Either way, that helps ease my mind a bit.  Thanks.

How else does force trim work? I fly the Apache for weeks using this method perfectly 🙂 and always have the tail rotor and the attitude perfectly centered with one press of a button. No more need to constantly counter-steer or slightly press one rudder all the time.

great to hear, it is going to be a lot of fun, of course not everyone enjoys early access, we understand that, but it is user feedback and reports that help us make the product better during the development phase so thank you.

I only talk for me, but: I never give feedback during EA. I used to, but since ED (Not necessarily you, so no offense) started to mark every to every other comment "correct as is" or just straight up ignore it, not even acknowledging it I stopped it. There's no value in giving Feedback to EA in this game. And that's awful
As I said, no offense, it's not your fault but I don't see how user feedback improves the game if it get's either ignored or just told "You're wrong even when having sourcing pointing out that one isn't wrong"

Source one: I like how Vader just deemed it correct when  its blatantly wrong.
Then the post that explains why it's incorrect is the post cited why it is correct. LOL

just to confirm, FFB is currently not implemented in the Chinook? FFB and trim works perfect in the Apache, but the Hook is basically a non centered stick currently. Will get implemented with the trim system later on, yes?

you need to assign 'trim control command' keypress "T" to your cyclic button for the early access 'CD Release (trim release)' function, see pp.57 in the manual.

I don't have an FFB stick, but as far as I know FFB support will come later in Early Access.

But BIGNEWY appears to have ignored the FFB issue raised in this thread.  So now I am even more concerned that we are not getting FFB.  Can somebody please confirm if we will be getting FFB for the Chinook or not.

Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

There is FFB, though it is only the basic stuff. At least with the VPforce Rhino I have the dampening (hydraulic) stays in place and the generic helicopter effects through TelemFFB.

But why no official response to answer the valid questions and concerns regarding FFB?  Why not mentioned at all from the beginning so that questions and concerns are not even an issue?

Feels to me like customers are being left hanging over this issue.  We already take many leaps of faith to support DCS, so some customer information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Happy landings,

Interesting.  I am getting nothing at all with my MSFF2 joystick/cyclic.  Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by dampening hydraulic stays.  So some folks are actually getting FFB?

Perhaps because the module was released late Friday and it’s currently the weekend? And the support people are real people with real lives? I feel like expectations regarding support response times have gotten a bit extreme.  Most companies providing software support promises a response in 24-48 business hours, and it’s been about 3…

Can only say for the VPforce Rhino with TelemFFB, as that's what I have.

There is no ForceTrim, yet (Emulation of the Centering Spring).

What I get is the dampening effect like you would feel if moving the cyclic against the hydraulic fluid.

TelemFFB (export of events from DCS) recognizes it as a helicopter and applies effects, like deceleration when hitting the brakes or rotor rumble and ETL.

Steady on wombat778.  If you read this thread you will see this topic was raised and questions asked about FFB after a newsletter back in June!

Thats not the same. The question was if its possible to trimm the chinnok with a ffb stick like all the other helicopters in DCS. And BiG Newy was talking around this question.

If you have the VPforce Rhino, go to the Effects tab and check "Hardware force trim" and "Override trim" options. Then bind your trim release button and trim hat. Worked for me to get force trim on the CH-47.

i know, but if you do this, u dont give any signal to the flightcomputer. U just give your stick a new centerpoint, but the flightcomputer dont know what to do. So the hook will pitch up and down and its hard to stabilize it in forward flight. U understand what i mean ?

I tried with my rhino and also with my gunfighter (no ffb) stick. it feels for me that the flight with trimming the gunfighter, the helo is much more stable in forward flight.

More trim options will be looked at during early access for various devices like we have with other DCS helo's, trim option for pedals without a spring for example.

I will also ask the team about FFB

edit: FFB has already been reported and will be looked at during early access.

thank you

Thanks BigNewy. No rush. Yall have done an outstanding job with the Apache for FFB and I have no doubt it will be the same for the hook. I just needed to confirm that it is indeed not implemented yet and I didnt botch my brunner settings!

everybody chill. Its early access and been out less than a week. I dont even know how BigNewy keeps up with all that, so taking a few days to respond is already quicker than I anticipated! Yall keep it up, love the chinook already!!

Can we get the option for force trim on release of the the CD trim button? At the moment it seems to be only on pressing. Both would be good I guess to cater for all, but I certainly find the trim reseting to the datum on release to be more useful and realistic.
