Pre-release videos - when?

We are only a few days out from the release of the Chinook. Will there be any videos show casing what is getting released for the EA in July? Any start-up videos, etc? 

It seems a bit unusual that there are nothing prior to the release of a module. I'm interested in buying the helo but only got a bullet point list of what is supposed have on the EA release day.

Well I suppose we had the trailer a while back, we also didn't see anything like that for Kiowa till on the day of release?

Video before release give a opportunity to see how system works,so when it comes people will have time to study basic things and for new buyer if they want to buy it.

Casmo was allowed to post raw footage with it at least a week or two before the official release. The lack of 'just' gameplay from ED's side is concerning. Yes, we know already that it's very undercooked, even for EA release, we're four days out, why tip toe around it and not just show it?

It does seem very quiet. 

So quiet I wonder if it’s anywhere near deliverable yet but I hope it is. I’m not in any hurry, plenty still to fly for now. When it comes it comes.

I hope the launch is not the same as the F-16C. The lack of video is indeed worrying.

I figure that all the drama for every release make them hesitate updates. 15 minutes after the release of Kiowa it was deemed an absolute fiasco and a flop.  
One day after when people came to grips with it it was ok ish. Then all of the sudden people loved it. 
People seem to wish it asap, and in the other hand it is a shame they release it unfinished.

A lot of this is bollocks. People love KW because weapon systems work. Same was with Apache. When I was actively flying with BSD, I think maybe few percent of new guys tried autorotation or VRS or RBS. Create a route? What's that? Yet, every single one of them knew how to shoot HF or gun.

Chinook is quite limited in its role and even that role is heavily neutered as it is now.

We're not asking for video's right away, we just wonder if ED has plans to showcase a bit of what we can expect, before the actual EA release (end of pre-purchase)

Although I love helo flying, I can only spend my money once and even though there's a nice pre-order discount, I still have to make choices between the new upcoming modules. As I can't justify spending money on everything.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the early access CH-47F being "p"reviewed by a few of the higher rated YouTube content creators such as for instance  Casmo and Redkite. Or at least have Wags throw us a a few cockpit familiarization videos on what we can expect at release.

You prove my point. Do you know if you want it now or later when it is finished? And your assumption is as bollox as mine. Bignewy said it can haul loads. And that is basically what it suppose to do. The rest coming later

Folks please calm down. 

We will posts videos when we are ready to. 

There will be no preview for content creators however, they will get access the same time as everyone else, this is not a new policy for us.  

Tutorial videos will come later during early access as features are refined, this will prevent having to delete or redo videos later on. Cinematic / gameplay videos will likely be first.

Please remember this is early access launch and there will be active development ongoing, I'm already loading cargo and doing single point sling loads in testing and having a lot of fun and I am sure you will to.

I'm a bit surprised to read this.

Normally, before new EA releases, there is quite a bit more preview videos (call it hype build up or just informative videos). At least some videos from Wags/ED.

Reading this reaction, it seems there's no intention of sharing/previewing anything more than what we have now: "a few fancy looking cinematic trailers and a general list of features".

 

Not angry/ranting or anything, but that's just not enough for me, to spend €50 on. I'll just wait until we see some more (and with that, accept possibly paying a bit more later on).

No problem, early access certainly does not suit everyone, I am sure once you are happy you will, or will wait for the free trials later in development. Either way we appreciate the support if and when you do purchase.

The Kiowa had videos leading up to it. The F-4 had several videos on how the systems works. Wags had videos on the F-18, the F-16 prior to release... 

Yes, guess the Chinook EA release is not for everybody.

What exactly do you mean? Are we all victims or just a picked few. Is it a secret brotherhood around getting those tutorials? 
Who exactly is it for by your logic. 
If you got pedals a throttle and a joystick I gather it works equal for everybody. 
I do want this to come July 3. 
Do you want it delayed until they made tutorials? I am very confused.

When I think back of the Mi-24 EA, it also wasn't perfect (in fact I didn't like the module in the beginning) and now I enjoy it a lot. So yeah. So yeah, I also simply want it on July, 3rd knowing it won't be perfect in the beginning. If I don't like it in the beginning, I will simply fly the other helicopters until a couple of more updates. So far, I don't think we've got any bad helicopter module so far. Still not a huge fan of the Gazelle, but I think that's more due to the lack of missing good campaigns.

That's something I have to criticize though. In the beginning, there were campaigns included with new modules. Now you "only" get the aircraft and you can only hope that some 3rd party companies or the community will make some (unless you fly online). Unfortunately, also no campaign mentioned in the after early access features...

I don't think it's a good method to hesitate with the videos so close to release. I also don't understand what ED is trying to achieve with this approach. As a potential buyer, I want to see what the new module looks like in the cockpit, what the MFDs display, what the sounds are like and just get a general impression before I buy it.

I would refer you to the Apache where we had a great video shortly after the announcement where Wags flew and talked about the module, followed by the sneak peek and then the tutorials. In my opinion, that was a great phase leading up to the release.

Now we have a pre-order trailer and a FAQ, which I personally find very weak.

To then say that EA isn't for everyone is a cop-out and has absolutely nothing to do with the actual problem. What disappoints me more is the fact that ED shows no consistency in their marketing strategy and doesn't follow up on their good practices (e.g. Apache).

Early Access is not for everyone, we all know that. But so is unfortunate marketing.

The Apache released into EA March 22 (I think) and Wags had done a whole load of vids before then on a bunch of systems. It is a shame that it's not happening this time round.

I do agree it is weird there is no videos about. A lot of testing is being done. 
what this means, and I am just guessing, is there a lot of people pre- ordering it that regret it? 
Or is it that these people want to delay the 3. Juli release?

Because I cannot comprehend the logic here. 
we obviously going to have to receive it without tutorials and videos on that date, or not receive it at all for the coming months. 
What of these to options do people want?

For me, I like to have it 3. July.

This one is easy: it's quite short list of systems in this rushed release, so not really much to make videos about.

Well sure but for Apache there was take off, in-flight, navigation, landing videos etc. Basic stuff that the Chinook could get videos for.

Never thought I'd say this, but yes, me too. Where's that hype train? 

 

Can't remember any recent module getting so little attention from ED, especially so short before release. 

(can't imagine it has anything to do with the Razbam situation, as someone here mentioned)

Take off- pull lever on the left, in flight- push pull the one between your legs, navigation- wiggle left right one between your legs, landing- push down on the lever on your left until you bump into something.
