MBot Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Got my manual yesterday, very nice work. This will be a nice collectors item next to my original Falcon 4.0 and Jane's F/A-18 manuals.

-fox- Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Can anyone weigh the manual, please? I'm considering some shipping options where this critically influences the s&h. I can't weigh mine because I have no scale but they said it's about 0.8 kg. I think that's about right.
C. Patrick Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Well, I can no longer wait for Amazon (U.S.) to distribute the manual, so I plunked down $55 USD for the book and shipping costs. Between the sim, joystick, and manual, I've invested about $260 USD into this thing. coder1024 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 can someone from ED please give an update on the status of US Amazon and the manual? Have you guys talked to Amazon about this? Any ETA? ED Team JimMack Posted June 5, 2009 ED Team Posted June 5, 2009 Ordered mine from the fighter collection today, how long does it take roughly to get the manual from them if your in the UK ? anyone ? bumfire Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 a friendly suggestion for ed/tfc: don't ship the manuals in just a padded envelope, at least not to non-uk customers. while mine was not outright torn apart it is quite bent. the binder and pages can probably be straightened out with a bit of work, but still. in that, i think, amazon's higher shipping charges are justified - they ship books in some sort of box (when they have them in stock :D). edit: a couple of pictures, if anyone's interested :): I would send that back I have just ordered from TFC and if it comes in that state it will be going straight back to them, if they dont package the manual properly for shipping especially as shipping is £7.50 and a touch on the expensive side especially for anything less than next day arrival then you shouldnt be expected to keep an item in that state if it arrives like that.
bumfire Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 You should get it on Wenesday/Thursday. Thanks Jim ;)
GregP Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 So - anybody have any comments on the sections added beyond what's in the digital version that comes with the sim?
bumble Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi, After cancelling my order with Amazon UK I ordered mine from TFC on the morning of the 2rd June and received it on the morning of the 4th June. Great service and no problem with the packaging.
bumfire Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Thats great to hear bumble, after seeing the pictures of someone elses TFC delivery I was starting to panic and thinking that TFC didnt securely package their manuals, but that doesnt seem to be the case. You have taken a weight off my mind, cheers ;)
jamiroq Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I would send that back I have just ordered from TFC and if it comes in that state it will be going straight back to them, if they dont package the manual properly for shipping especially as shipping is £7.50 and a touch on the expensive side especially for anything less than next day arrival then you shouldnt be expected to keep an item in that state if it arrives like that. in case you've missed it: jim kindly offered replacement manuals to those that got their copies ruined. the problem is that no one has much control over the delivery process (except in the form of over-protecting the package) and delivery companies don't really care about what happens to the packages they're supposed to deliver. i think that they (posts, delivery companies) have calculated that it costs them less money to deliver the packages the way they do, than to slow down the process with careful handling.
