Patch delay discussion and news

I like all the "I'm a grown up!" versions of a kid finding out they have to wait a few more minutes for their ice cream cone because the ice cream man hasn't arrived yet. lol.

The thing is, they have their ice cream! It's just the sprinkles and extra flavors that are coming later than expected.

 He is just a casual pilot like most of us and i understand his frustration. Your comment was well out on context and even lost me half way through. Defo not the year for ED this year, normally you see this over a course of years but not in the first 7 months, release dates postponed, fall outs with third party developers.

ED doesn't announce a date because of the risk of delay: People complain
ED announce a date regardless of the risk of delay: People complain when there is a delay
ED announces rough estimates close by with the disclaimer 'everything is subject to change': People still complain when there is a delay

They only care about getting something that doesn't exist yet.

The patch wasn't ready. That's the bottom line.
Make expectations after the patch is uploaded and the patch notes are published. It is much better for your health, ...like some folks really cares about it right...?

Here I am waiting for the Kola and South Atlantic updates to go live and be reviewed in order to pay->download->play them. Waiting for weeks now.

Better ED to take their time. Imagine if there was a AAA publisher behind this and all we get is broken patches with 1 month fixed date no matter what QA says. There are examples all over.

Too many children are forum members, methinks. Parents, control your offspring! It's always someone else's fault...

When it does get released we'll get the same people complaining about this or that or the other and demanding to know why it was released when it clearly wasn't ready.

You know, the ones who are always demanding to know exactly when stuff will be released, then complaining when it isn't released on the date they insisted on being given.

To the Eagle Dynamics Team:  Thank you for all of your hard work providing me with hours of entertainment and enjoyment, and for taking the time to try to deliver a more satisfying patch.

To all of the overly entitled armchair game developers:  Give it a rest.

Maybe ED should go back to a 2 version model.  The Beta branch with multiple updates per year for people with reasonable expectations in regards to delays and a Stable Branch with a single annual update for anyone not willing to manage expectations and need a solid release date.

The context was the point, explained below. And the Razbam debacle is unrelated to this patch (to the best of my knowledge). The Razbam situation is obviously unfortunate and there are already dozens of pages of discussion on that issue.

Complaints about patch delays lead me to two conclusions. You have a very good life and no longer have to worry about the actual things that have plagued humankind for 98% of its existence. And secondly this has caused perspective to go out the window if an update to a video game has a measurable effect on your mood.

From my experience in corporate disaster recovery and problem solveing:

Always have a Solution/Plan A, Plan B and a Plan C. 

Checking out the Eagle Dynamics Downloads > User files, I see @Quartermaster has released several Remastered Cockpits for 2024. Celebration of 10th years producing DCS Mods. 

This may be a good time to check them out and refresh/revisit some of the older modules.

Um, I don't think people are upset about delays per se, people are upset because it's the third delay and the second within the last 24 hours.

Welll then is good that we ALL are just playing a game - which DCS is at the end.

Please don´t come with this "I´m a Fighter pilot by attitude, practise and knowldge - they just never gave me a real airplane to fly".

Ed is a businees, we are the customers. DCS is a flying game and we are Gamers at the very end.

Oh, now that you mention it. It's not ED that has a problem with patch management, it's the people supporting the game that are to blame for all the delays. Good thing we have smart people like you. I almost thought ED had an internal issue. I almost fell for it.

A question from me to the geniuses among us.
If someone is really p*ssed off, regardless of whether it seems justified from another point of view or not, what would be smarter?
To inflame the situation further and point out how childish he or she is, or, if you know you can't calm the person down, simply not to write anything?
Three guesses for everyone!
I've already found my answer, I'm curious to see what the geniuses have to say.

Hello everyone,

So guys... just stay calm... it's a video game... and unfortunately the patch has been delayed again... better than downloading 65GB and then realizing that nothing works anymore. Go out into the fresh air, do something in the real world.
I'm going to grab my dog and drive to the lake and maybe... just maybe I'll take a beer or two with me.

I noticed the fan boys are quick to defend ED and call certain individuals on here as childish etc. So might point is....... why are these people still on this thread? we are dissapointed, i won't deny it but others on here still want a dig. amazes me

Another example… Maybe some of you guys have played or heard of FBW 32N.  It has a lot of bugs and you have to wait a long time to get a major update. But no one is upset. Because it's for free. Anything people get is like a bonus. But in this case，when people complain about the delay，maybe because they have already paid for some products and expect they can get them. It's like you buy something online，but you don't know when you can have the product.  It may won't hurt our passion for flying，but at the same time hurt the business.
