Just as much effort goes into research.

Finding good drawings and editing them in photoshop

Setting up said drawings in max

Finding good reference photos

More time you spend doing prep work the easier it is.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Ok guys. Still have an issue.

I have 1 great ref photo. It has top, side and front along with helpers, formers ribs whatever you want to call them.

Now I grab the top, side and front and make them their own individual pics.

After watching many videos the side Width is my TOPS Height. The lowest digits of width and height of the Side and Top become the Width and height for the FRONT. This works great.

Now here is where I am failing. I keep my reference page that has the forms and ribs on (helpers) but I don't know at what digits I should size them regarding the TOP,SIDE and front.

I hope this makes sense!

Best.

Google man google :) Just be more specific with what you are wanting to model, chances are someone else has modeled something similar and showed how they did it.

Could someone recommend me some Low poly modeling tutorials, i cant seem to find anything besides character modeling.

Im having a wicked hard time finding a 3 view of a C-130H. any ideas. When I begin to do the drawing and zoom in its just not precise looking as what else I can find out there and the C-130 in the game now is looking pretty amazing.

The 3 view drawings are more of a guide...alone with everything else like the cross selections.. Unless you are lucky enough to get them directly from the company.

Delete the Meshsmooth Modifier.

go back to Editable Poly, expand, select polygon editing,

highlight the entire mesh (CTRL+A)

go to smoothing, click "Clear All", then Click Auto and it will smooth it out nicely.

sorry but where is it ? is it the "polygon:smoothing groups" just above of "paint deformation" ? :dunno:

unfortunately i cant smooth my model: i still see the polygons/quads on the exported edm model  the model is smooth in 3dsmax but not in the edm modelviewer

or should i use "meshsmooth" ?

Is there any guide to make a cockpit?

and a template just for clicable?

I don't know of any guides for making cockpits however, I can say that the following web page was extremely useful when I was making mine.

http://www.xflight.de/

Click on Real\Documents to open up various cockpit plans that can be imported into your modelling\CAD program for copying.

Also, many aircraft manuals contain fold-outs that show the cockpits in their various guises i.e.

You might also consider the following site for info too

Hope that helps

Porsche 908 I made in Solidworks. I was going to build it as a one off replica with the help of a friend who could make fibreglass vehicle bodies. I reverse engineered the tubular chassis and suspension too, based on photos and some factory blueprints of the later 917 sports prototype. I was going to power it with a quad cam 4.3 litre Lexus V-8 because an original Porsche V-8 would cost several times more than my house did :D

Solidworks is very difficult when it comes to modelling swooping compound curves like the Porsche body, it drove me crazy at times, but I needed something I could produce blueprints and templates from.

Then the project was abandoned because we decided to leave everything behind and go and live halfway up a mountain in another country :D

phu .. this was a long time ago :D

Think I used a directional light for the outside lighting and area lights for the windows - reference frame was taken from the movie "Psycho".

Rendered it in mentalRay in multiple passes and put them together afterwards with a few adjustments (grain, background gradient, etc.)

Keep in mind I'm completely new to lighting. I don't even know how to take decent photo, so what I consider good might be rudimentary to you.
