The_Chugster Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 So I had 2 shortcuts, one for the launcher for updating and one for the multi-thread exe. Do we still need this with the new launcher?
Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 (edited) Depends on your preferences. If you want to use the launcher all the time, then no. If you want to bypass the launcher for whatever reason, then yes. *edit* I might have misunderstood, I thought you meant separate shortcuts for DCS_updater.exe and DCS.exe Edited August 3, 2024 by Raven (Elysian Angel) clarification 1 Spoiler Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | Virpil CM3 throttle | Virpil CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings
funkster Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) The old MT workaround was to create a shortcut pointed to the DCS.exe in the Bin-MT folder. This still opens the launcher! Which I assume is correct and the launcher should appear regardless of which .exe you run It would be better if they built in a checkbox into the launcher for MT / NONE MT Versions Edited August 3, 2024 by funkster 3

Doesn't matter if it's ST or MT. The shortcuts are for own's use. They were never required. 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Do we still need this with the new launcher? You can still use your shortcut for the updater (this is what the default shortcut for DCS is) as by default this will now start the MT version. A separate shortcut to the bin-mt\DCS.exe file is not needed. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

funkster Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Hi - Been away a while. Am I right in stating that the patch for the consolidation of versions hasn't been implemented yet? I.e we still have two versions? Just checking in case I need to change shortcuts etc.

MiiCh Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 When I read this thread, I had a question... what happens with the call parameters that we have in our shortcut? I mean things like --force_openxr or --force_oculus? I suppose that the launcher passes them to the final program, so I can see that --force_enable_vr works.

The force_OpenXR isn’t needed as the MT version of DCS is OpenXR by default. The force_oculus one isn’t needed as you should probably be using OpenXR and not the old Oculus runtime. The new launcher will run the game in VR if you have the little man with googles selected by the Launch button and have a headset running, otherwise it’ll use 2D, or you can select the computer icon in the launcher drop-down by the big orange Launch button and it’ll force use 2D instead regardless of headset on or not. Lone_Hawk_13 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 hey everyone has there been any updates as to if you still have to start dcs with the MT exe, or if the exe in the normal bin folder is MT as well?
