tmz Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 20 hours ago, Tomcat388th said: @tmz I ran your mission and I averaged 10fps in VR with Virtual DT. I'm not that versed in the mission editor but I seen there were over 1300 units for blue and red. How many are moving or active. Our squad had troubles with moving AI tanking performance in MP and had to scale it back some. I use the 4ya Syria server as my stress test for VR and as of right now it fine. DCS is a strange some people 0 problems the others the computer catches fire. I have been on both ends of the spectrum. Thanks for the testing! This is a vanilla version of a DCS Retribution campaign I use (with all scripts removed), as there is no active frontline there should not be many moving units. What strikes me is the performance difference between 2.9.5, where I am running routinely campaigns of this scale, and 2.9.6/2.9.7 where it is not possible at all.

Rene Coulon Posted August 15 Posted August 15 (edited) Members 143 1 Posted 20 hours ago (edited) I have a home system when 2 players can play in MP on a closed system. The mission I have made have been super smooth in 2.9.5. After the last updates the stuttering and multiple freezes make the missions unplayable. Nothing has changed on my side, Gone from a steady 120 FPS in 2D to 30 /70 FPS The second player is glitchy as heck. These same missions now Massive Stutters and have Micro Freezes with around 12 AI units involved. There has been a considerable performance crash since the last 2 updates. Rene Coulon Posted August 15 Posted August 15 (edited) I have used process Lasso to get my CORES 7 to 11 running in DCS again....There is a SLIGHT improvement. I have a stress test Map on the Normandy Map. I have loaded it with a Lot of extra AI aircraft, it seems to run very well...however other missions with more ground units, for example AAA batteries, are running way worse, with a lot fewer AC airborne. How to pin point where the issue actually lies is really really difficult. I know....somehow DCS needs to get its foundations reset...Super new modules are Icing on the cake...but if the cake itself is a mess....no amount of Icing will help really grow the Fan base in a strong and sustainable way.. Another issue, and I really do understand why its super difficult to implement, is some form of relief for Non Americans/Europeans, trying to purchase modules with currencies that are stuffed...mine is currently over 18 to 1...anyway thats another topic. 2 Asus ROG MAXIMUS X Formula Intel i7- 8700K 4.8ghz Asus GTX 2080ti OC edition 64 Gb RAM at 3200mhz Kraken X 72 cooler Samsung CHG90 monitor at 144 htz DCS on M.2 drive 500 Gb

I own every single module except for the Yak-52 and MB-339 and have all the maps, and can't play as of the past two updates. You know damn well I'll never get compensated for any of it and currently I'm helpless just sitting here waiting for a miracle. I can't in good conscious suggest to any of my friends to get into DCS at this point, and have a couple that were going to but when they heard about the Razbam/ED issues and the amount of modules and lack of transparency involved they backed out. 2
Archangel44 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 On a good note. I checked and all 8 of my cores are operating and pretty much maxed out while playing DCS. AMD 9590. I then installed the latest graphics driver for my EVGA 1080-SC. Set frame rate max to 70 both in game and on the Nvidia control panel. In game, set some graphics to high and ultra. Final word, it’s better, not great but better, less stutter and screen freezes. ED still has more work to do. 2.9.5 was way better. 2 F-4E, F-5E-3, F-14, F-15E, F-16C, FA18-C, F-86, A-10C, Spitfire, AJS-37, KA50, MiG-19, L-39, P-51, Flaming Cliffs, All maps, WWII Assets, Combined Arms, Super Carrier.
Rene Coulon Posted August 16 Posted August 16 i AM CURRENTLY RUNNING STRESS TESTS on the Normandy map. 1. 200 AI Aircraft airborne, smooth as silk, nothing else 2. 300 AI Ships, zero stutters, nothing else 3. 200 ground unit of various sizes and types including V1 lauchers etc, no issues. Somehow its looking like a combination of things triggering the stutters, or I am still to isolate the Trigger either a Plane, Ship or ground unit...It could even be a formation type ???? A Hamburgler Posted August 17 Posted August 17 One thing I have mentioned before but I will again. I seem to notice that everyone who describes the same issue all has this in their logs. WARNING WORLD (Main): ModelTimeQuantizer: ANTIFREEZE ENABLED It is then repeated until ending the game.
Slippa Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Whatever’s happening I could do with some antifreeze. It froze up on me three or four times earlier, had to force close it from the task manager yet again. Sorting out this mess ought to be priority number one. Flying the Chinook on a MP server feels like I’ve got the plague at times, people shy away from the stutter-fest. I don’t blame the Chinny at all, it was happening three updates ago. It really isn’t funny. 1
A Hamburgler Posted August 17 Posted August 17 (edited) @BIGNEWY I noticed something. If you look at the graphs and look at 2.9.6 how it spikes about every second. In the log I noticed a repeated message. WARNING WORLD (Main): ModelTimeQuantizer: ANTIFREEZE ENABLED I then went to the log on 2.9.5 and this is not in there. After a little further digging I was going through some of the forum posts with people who described a similar issue as mine. I looked in their logs too and sure enough they also have the same message repeated. WARNING WORLD (Main): ModelTimeQuantizer: ANTIFREEZE ENABLED So what causes this ANTIFREEZE during AI heavy missions in 2.9.6 vs 2.9.5? This causes me to go from 160 FPS in 2.9.5 to 9 FPS in 2.9.6 (also 2.9.7). Might be something to look into. dcs 2.9.6.log dcs 2.9.5 (1).log 5 minutes ago, Slippa said: Whatever’s happening I could do with some antifreeze. SP_Testing.trk 1.37 MB · 3 downloads dcs.log 384.74 kB · 5 downloads I saw something similar to this recently. Was only getting it in track replays and SP content. Turned out after deleting the OH-6 mod, I still had mod .lua files leftover in the savedgames>DCS>Scripts>Hooks folder. Deleted the leftover mod .lua files (the loaches AI gunner hook lua can cause issues iirc) and that sort of stutter disappeared. I will say though anecdotal, I've seen lots of user reports of increased memory usage since the Afghan patch (2.9.6.57650) I think as well. I know the patch notes did list changes to the terrain render tech, so it could be related. 1 1
