Great map.

First time I see 64GB RAM being almost fully used.... I wonder if there would be any benefit with 96GB (for my next build).

Same here, had to look twice 🙂

I suspect, these are relics of an automated conversion process of sat images to ground textures. My home town is missing as well. But at the correct location you find brown lines and rectangles in the green accurately defining the actual streets and buildings.

The Iraq map is a lot like this in the south where the buildings are yet to be done but the roadways and so on are clearly already there waiting.

1. What are the system requirements
- We recommend 32 GB of system RAM and 8 GB of VRAM
2. How much disk space is required?
- 205Gb (Phase 1 - 110 Gb)
3. How much does DCS: Cold War Germany cost?
-
$55.99 USD at early access release and then later $69.99 USD at final release with all three phases.
4. How will the map be sold, as a whole or in parts?
- The Cold War map will be released in phases, with each phase adding more terrain, airfields, cities and other features. Three phases in total are planned. The map will only be sold as the entire map.
5. What are the dimensions of the map?
- 980 x 800 km

Phases_with_air.jpg
6. Will assets be released and when?
- We have received many such requests. Ugra-Media will do everything possible to release a Cold War Germany assets pack with objects and equipment following the release of Phase 3.
7. Why are there static objects on the map if I can place them myself?
- We were guided by the interests of the users. First, we did it for the sake of performance and FPS, and this is the best solution. You immediately get a polished product that allows you to fly without additional work in the Mission Editor. The world is already filled with life and details, but at the same time, free spaces are left open for your creativity; you can add your own objects without interfering with the rest of the map.
8. When will the seasons be released?
- Autumn and Spring will be released with Phase 2. and Winter will come with Phase 3
9. Will there be destructible buildings?
- Yes, most buildings have destruction models. Traditionally, this does not apply to original objects.
10. Will there be RSBN beacons on the maps?
- Yes, East German airbases are already equipped with RSBN beacons.
11. Will you make SAM sites?
- 40 SAM sites have been placed on the map, and some air bases include prepared SAM sites.
12. What airfields will be on the map?
Full details on Phase 1 here (Cold War Germany Phase 1 Airfields and Bases)

Sorry if this question has been asked before... But I couldn't find anything about my request while browsing.

The RSBN codes for the Mig21 don't work yet, do they?

Are there any built in missions/campaigns or are we waiting on @Reflected 🙏?

To be honest, I'll probably hold fire on this until I've finished MiG Killers and Red Flag 81-2. At least then I'd be half handy in multiplayer if campaigns weren't forthcoming.

In Training: Phantom F-4E / In the Hanger: F-14, F-16

Maps: Afghanistan / Syria / Nevada

Hardware: Winwing Orion2 HOTAS Metal Warthog / Winwing Orion2 ViperAce EX Throttle / Thrustmaster T-Flight Rudders

Head Tracking: AI Track + OpenTrack

No native implementation yet. You can use the file from this thread at least in single player:

Just a constructive thought -

205 GB Size - The time has come when these huge Map Downloads should be available to purchase mail order on USB Stick or a SSD .

Im sure a bulk buy price for ssd or usb sticks from a manufacturer could be sorted out for this alternative sales method.

Im sure a lot of users would welcome the option to hook up the mail order drive and install Maps from there.

Users with very slow internet will be very reluctant to commit to these huge downloads.

Just an idea.

I'll second this.

Slow internet isn't the only concern here, bandwidth is becoming a bigger and bigger issue with the size of these downloads increasing all the time. I own most of the aircraft modules, 1 helicopter and all of the terrains and my DCS folder is 1.17TB now. How big would it be if I owned all of the modules? Yuge!

Amen!

Not sure if I'll have the map before I get a new 2TB NVME just for DCS. Might have to uninstall a few other maps to make room for the time being.

I don't know how many modules and terrains you have but you might want to consider a 4TB NVMe drive. I have all of the terrains, most of the aircraft, and my DCS folder is over 1TB. My saved games folder is another 68gb. With terrains growing so much in size it might be cheaper in the long run to go with a bigger drive now.

Food for thought.

All the maps. Always all the maps. :smoke:

It's a question of cash, ma man. I'm going to order a 2TB Samsung NVME tonight, for under $200. A 4TB is over $400. The difference in price buys me stuff I need for work.

Real life. What can ya do, eh? 😉

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Hi, sorry if this was addressed already. I tried searching for keywords through the topic but couldn't find anyone asking:

Are highway strips planned in any of the phases?

Many thanks for your efforts.

Will the Preschen air base from former East Germany be included?

It was home of Fighter Squadron No 3, including two MiG-29 ant one MiG-21 wings.

Thanks in advance,

Regards, Vinc

Edit: I found it in phase 3, thanks

I wonder if it would be possible to make another Baltic map after phase 3. With the southern part of Poland, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, St. Petersburg, and parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway and the rest of Denmark. Also, how would this map work with East Germany and Kola on improved technology so that you can fly between these three maps. Even if it required a 128GB RAM solution, I would go for such a system!

Can't find the answer to the following using search:
Is ILS working on the map? I get an annoying static near Hahn and can't the any of the frequencies for Ramstein, Hahm, Pferdsfeld and Spangdahlem dialed in. The frequency is not accepted on the DED.

What is this monument here?

That particular screenshot is just beyond the Berlin TV tower, but there's another copy of it on top of a hill on the outskirts of the city to the northeast. I can't find any records of a monument like this.

Have you considered compacting your entire DCS folder?

There are some tools available which allow for easy compacting, such as

CompactGUI  https://github.com/IridiumIO/CompactGUI
Compactor  https://github.com/Freaky/Compactor/?

The latter allowed me to reduce the DCS footprint by 20-30%, at no noticeable performance cost. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Hello to all the teams Ugra. Thank you for this superb ma, magnificent work like your Syria map.

I'm still disappointet not see any French bases planned... Yet given phases 2 and 3, there's no shortage of locations !

Just one at least for th French community.

Happy about the GR7 version, but have to say that the FRS1/2 version ..... hmmm..... looks like a make-believe. Nice morph of a GR7 and a FRS, but would use it in no case.

The mod is basically just a nose graft for the existing Harrier.  Not a completely new model as would be needed for the Original airframe variants.  Not ideal, but better than nothing at all I guess.

Yes, from deficiency of existing models you are right. Now with possible upcoming european maps it would be fantastic to see more european aircraft appear in DCS....

Hi fighters🫡
HotFix has been delayed, but it will be on your computers soon.
We have received amazing feedback from you. We have tried to fix everything we saw and even more. If you created a topic in the bugs section and your problem was solved - write about it, because we read it.
Check the ILS, RSBN for interference - everything should work.

So let's look at the list:
- RAM and video memory usage has been reduced
- optimized traffic: the amount of harvester traffic is reduced, vehicle traffic is shifted to cities and airfields
- fixed normals on road intersection textures
- corrected errors in frequencies and beacon locations: Briest RSBN is set to terrain, added Mendig NDB 331.0 NMN, Tempelhof VOR/DME changed to VORTAC, added Kirn VORTAC 117.5 KIR ch 122, added Solling NDB 374.5 SOG
- corrected errors in taxiways of the following airfields: Allstedt, Bitburg, Bremen, Hahn, Hannover, Merseburg, Neubrandenburg, Neuruppin, Peenemunde, Pferdsfeld, Ramstein, Schonefeld, Schweinfurt, Sembach, Spangdahlem, Stendal, Tegel, Tempelhof, Tutow.
- Ramstein taxiway signage corrected
- removed trees on helipads: H_GDR_34, H_FRG_46, H_FRG_51
- color correction of airfield ground textures: Bitburg, Buckeburg, Frankfurt, Finow, Giebelstadt, Gutersloh, Holzdorf, Ramstein, Sembach, Spangdahlem, Werneuchen
- fixed bugs in models
- disabled unused models and textures
- increased height of tank bridge on ranges
- added straight electric wires on poles along streetcar and railroad tracks
- added marine passenger ship in the scenes of ports and traffic
- corrected incorrect display of icons and names on the map
- added markings of air defense points, radars and hospitals on the map
- improved image quality for the main menu

Has the Adelsheim NLP been fixed? There were trees on the runway and the map icon was not on the NLP. It was also not connected to a road and the terrain surrounding it looked very odd.

I can write a bug report if that's needed.
