I think this question is very early, because the model is so far from the finished version and i can't say anything about the release date. We try to do our best and finish the project. That's all, what i can say yet.

I really love all these small details, but isn't this just too much unnecessary precessing data? How much triangles is the model so far? Unwrapping this bird afterwards is going to be a nightmare...

i dont think so

not problem with good and numerous lod models

i think in the future (in the next 1-2 years) 200-500k tris models wont be a problem with new graphic cards

I take it you've never heard of Normal Map Baking.

Where you Export the High Polygon Model to a Normal Map which can be applied to a Lower Poly Model and make it look like the High Polygon model using the normal map.

New models in DCS are pushing the 350K triangle barrier now. I think 375K is the biggest I've seen so far.

Maximum of 150,000 triangles (complex geometry or large model). On average, about 50,000 -70,000

Unless my MV settings are messed up, these models are pushing the boundaries. Only args set to one is, 0,3,5

hey Rudel if you turn off the custom draw mode then you will get exactly the half num trgs and num objs - that's the normal visible tris in the sim. 204559 tris with the a-10c model, 187936 trgs with the f-15e model

or

something wrong on your side

Yes, but still not average 50-70k trgs (only older models). :) All new ED models have usually 150-200k trgs (F-15C 150k, Su-33 185k, Su-27 168k, etc.), but the Tu-22M3 is only 134k, because not too complex geometry.

i can imagine this 3 million tris model in dcsw

this is the future: i guess we will see this in the next 3-5 years, however the most detailed lod and parts/details of the model will be visible only if camera goes very close to the model (0.5-1 meter) - like gear bays, engines or cockpit only - that's why lod models are very important

Are you planing on releasing the model for FC2 or FC3, cause I don't see me buying FC3 for now at lease. Few improvement over FC2. I'm waiting for separated modules like Su-27 or Mig-29.

What about your version of the Mig-29???? RAZBAM went all the way but got halted, and in the end we are still waiting for a F-15 stile Mig-29M module.

My version? If you are implying why I am not making one... well I never said I am or will or can make one :music_whistling: These guys were making it and if you followed the thread and screenshot you would have seen this model had excellent quality and was/is well worth making DCS module of... that is if they know/can/want to make it.
