pauldy Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Will this FC 2.0 change the Overcast clouds that bring down most computers to their knees? I hope the overcast clouds were changed so that some of us can fly under rainy or stormy conditions. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Prophet Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 We cannot promise FC-2.0 compatibility for all future DCS modules. That would require ED to continue development of two different products, only one of which they have full control over (DCS). Remember, Flaming Cliffs is still a Lock On-based product (Ubisoft). ED hopes to ensure all DCS modules retain online compatibility between each other (although each DCS module is a stand-alone simulation product), but we can't say the same for Flaming Cliffs beyond DCS: Black Shark. We'll know more about DCS: A-10C Warthog and how it will work as it nears completion. You guys say its a lockon based product, but it has been updated to DCS. And we all know that the KA50 was originally intended for lockon anyways. I can see why you guys would make the claim, to CYA. But in all honestly, anything that was changed in DCS that would make FC 2.0 incompatible should easily be patchable. It is not as if you are developing 2 different because the parts that are going to matter are going to be the same. Now DCS modules not being compatible. That would really kill it for me. Defeats the purpose of a DCS series. And all that would be added is whatever new content is added. Just doesn't give me much of a warm fuzzy to hear maybe this maybe that, we will try. I guess its all wait and see, and if ED cant do it maybe our friendly community hackers can pull it off.
EvilBivol-1 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Again, plans are subject to change. That's just how it works for ED in this business. Besides the technical issues of continually changing technologies in the code and the availability of people to code them, there are legal and financial considerations that the public is usually not fully aware of. At the end of the day, it's all about making good flight sims for us to enjoy and for ED to grow as a developer. So far, they seem to have done alright on both counts and I expect it will only get better. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Kuky Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 What I think is one big plus is when you have DCS and LockOn and in the future more DCS modules... if they are all compatible we get more people flying in same servers or hand out at the same place (like HL). Currently DCS is not compatible with LockOn so you can be either here or there... it just splits the community. Alper22 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 What about the mid-air refueling in online games?? Im bored of that bug. "Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and birds in the sky"
Boberro Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 No. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Alper22 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 If they dont gonna fix those bugs, why they still releasing payware patches? Its bullshit. Im not sure its gonna worth to buy it then. "Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and birds in the sky"
GGTharos Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 It isn't a payware patch, it is an upgrade, and a significant one at that. I'm sorry your pet peeve was not addressed. Alper22 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 It isn't a payware patch, it is an upgrade, and a significant one at that. I'm sorry your pet peeve was not addressed. THE FIGHTER COLLECTION AND EAGLE DYNAMICS TO The Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2.0 upgrade for owners of Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1.12 will be available for sale as a download from the Eagle Dynamics Lock On web site for $14.99 USD. http://lockon.co.uk/. The upgrade will first be released in English and Russian with French, German, and Spanish versions to follow. 1 "Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and birds in the sky"
GGTharos Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 ... and? Like I said, it isn't a payware patch. It is an upgrade. I understand if you want to think of it as something you should have for free, but in reality people have to eat. This isn't a patch. It doesn't just fix bugs, it's a significant upgrade that adds functionality. Do you understand the difference, or shall I try explaining it again? EvilBivol-1 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Page 1 of this thread: Q: Will multi-player aerial refueling be supported in Flaming Cliffs 2.0? A: As in Flaming Cliffs 1.12, the answer is no.If you don't feel that FC-2.0 is worth buying for you, that is your right, but at least take the time to inform yourself about the product before taking an offensive attitude toward it or the people that make it. In general, that sort of approach on the forum will quickly backfire. Edited November 27, 2009 by EvilBivol-1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Renato71 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Truth to be told, its more like "porting FC planes to DCS environment", then "significant FC upgrade", no? One way or another, glad to see it happen. Any chance to fix AI for SAMs? Like, making them more sneaky, instead of triggerhappy? Any chance to see fixed damage models for ships (and vehicles if not of a big trouble) ? It would be nice to be able to destroy individual systems on ship, like radar, AAA, SAM, engines,... and let the rest be in working state. Oh, and lets make some use of 76mm guns on ships against aircraft :) I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.
Luse Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Wags, Do you know if the ability to have all aircraft using smoke pods on the ground will be included ? STT Radar issue is leftover code.
Aeroscout Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I too find it a bit disappointing that the air to air refueling bug was not addressed. I don't know how hard it would be to fix, but i would gladly have traded it for the bird strikes or something. Either way though, this upgrade will still be worth it, Alper. I wouldn't base your judgment on one single negative aspect of it. I'm sure you'll still find it better than the old FC. All the best Aero DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Im bored to see same things of years in that game. ED just keep "SELLING" patches, significant patches, significant upgrades or whatever it called. IvanK Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Has the ET been tinkered with such that it wont guide unless launched with tone ?
GGTharos Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Launching a heater without seeker lock will be a bad idea. Has the ET been tinkered with such that it wont guide unless launched with tone ? EvilBivol-1 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 The seeker FOV for the ET has been severely reduced, so it is now highly unlikely to find anything if fired without a valid lock. 1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Renato71 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (On more clever SAM...) You could sort of simulate this using triggers if you really want ... I see, thats it fine, but still sounds like poor mans choice in comparison to some proper AI logic. For example, if you set up something like 20 Iglas, and additional 20 Strela-10, and 20 Shilkas, and 20 Tuguskas, and 20 Tors, I think it will be easier to set their individual skills then to set up 100 triggers zones on top of all work? I don't think there will be improvements in that area of FC or DCS unfortunately. It is something the devs have in mind for the (near, far, who knows) future regarding naval objects. Thats a pitty. Anti-shipping is a great fun, and since there is so big sea area on the map, it is sad that naval forces are not used to their... erm... well... at least up to some potential.
