Does ED has the plan to make a F-16CJ sim?

Well, I know there is already Falcon 4.0 series, which is an awesome game. But I do believe ED could make something better. ED implemented a top-end aerodynamic model, which is better than that of Micropose (No offensive, that was an impressive model of its time). And there is already an AI F-16, all ED has to do is to make it flyable, right?

The AI F-16 EDM isnt that High in detail, looks good from med distance, but up close... not so much,

its no so much, just adding a line to make it flyable.

They have to build a pit and model all the systems and aerodynamics.

F-16CJ? Which version? USAF? block 50 or 52? What OFP? With CCIP or without? My point is. F-16 has so many different variations. From country to country, different upgrades etc. To many variation.

Everything F-16 related, depends on the block, the year, the country and even the serial number. Without those parameters, information is not accurate.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

lol. why? Most people forget the F-16 is used by so many countries and each country will have their own version.

even one country may have several version of the same block. All USAF CJ have been replaced by CM. Just saying, lol

That's kinda like saying, while staring at the empty lot you just bought, "Yea, so my new house is basically already done!"

He said an F-16 addon, he doesn't need to specify what block etc, because hes refering to Falcon 4 then probably a Block 52 then. What ever version though that ED would be willing to model which most likely could be an MLU or a C of some sort since there is alot of information for both available. It would most likely be a US one which could fly for any country with the right skin until eventually someone modelled a specific one for that model/country.

BTW there is two things good about an F-16 addon:

1/ the F-16 in DCS has a really good 3d model

2/ there is a AFM for the F-16 being developed

No offense, that sounds kind of like saying "It's too popular, so they shouldn't bother". I would agree that the different versions are quite confusing, but that does not preclude them from taking one and running with it.

On the OP's question: My speculation is as follows:

Do they have plans to have an incarnation of the F-16 flyable in high-fidelity in DCS: World? Without a doubt. It's the most widely used western fighter jet.

Are they working on it now? If they are, then likely not at any advanced stage where release could be expected in the next 2 years. DCS most notable rival in the field of high-fidelity military aviation simulation is arguably BMS 4.32 at this point. I believe they decided it doesn't make sense to go after an already cornered market first. They are establishing their product with jets that won't have that level of competition. When DCS becomes the major military aviation sim on the market (something they are well on their way to), then I believe we will see an F-16 to cement that position. Another calculation they may have is that the team behind BMS may yet want to come on board as a 3rd party developer. Their knowledge of the F-16 and its systems would enable them to make a stellar F-16, so maybe that's also something that ED is hoping for, at least to some extent.

Bottom line: The F-16 will be here eventually, but I would be surprised if it was within the next 2 or 3 years.

Those ossified guys will stay by BMS, rest with more open minds will choose DCS, especially when an F-15E, F-18 and A-10C are available (add to this F-16 and you have USAF :D).

I pray that ED takes that step sometime during my lifetime. I love the F-16. Any of you critters here still play AF?

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

BMS has so far much more advanced ATC and comms.

Dynamic campaign is just additional feature which is neither good nor bad.

Theater is less important I think, especially when we compare quality of DCS theater and BMS one. Even those in DCS which is often just plain, mountains are rectangular is far more attractive than repeated tiles in Falcon.

I think some people just can't stand and won't accept that Falcon is closer and closer to the end of its life. Developers can't change ugly graphics that first, second there are some bugs as well in multiplayer.

In the past Falcon has been much more attractive compared to the DCS (in overall). Now it changed, DCS evolves, BMS stands in one place.

DCS has one big problem - ED's engine is extremely slow. ED is packing new features and it's getting slower and slower........ and slower giving outdateg graphics (compared to Outterra example) and very low FPS on high end computers.

Doing things that have been missing from the market for a decade and more: thousands less sales? ;)
