DCS F-18 is going to be a C as you mentioned. "E" model will be tricky due to the lack of declassified information. I wouldn't bet on it anytime soon :(

I don't think we'll see the DCS 18 until *maybe* December to line up with the holidays.

I'm betting the Hornet won't be here until mid-2014. Bezcl's MiG-21 seems to be going fairly well though, and it seems IRIS Simulations has got something going as they were searching for beta testers not long ago (see here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105361).

Coretex Designs is working on a DCS-level (AFAIK) Super Hornet, seems to be going well (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90154) :)

I should have recognized that - good point. Any variant is fine with me!

So I am a little confused ... is ED creating the F-18C? I thought this was a Cortex Design project. Sounds like they are doing the E and possibly ED doing the C?

Is that correct?

agree for the F-16 as a member and a flyer on falcon community for years

as for the F-22 forget it

most of the systems are classified if not all

maybe in 10 years;)

Theres not enought known about the F-22's systems to make it anyhow close to DCS quality standards. That why there wont be an offical F-22.

I agree with the F-16 tho im not sure how confident the systems of the F-16's are nowadays. But the F-16 is a very nice multi-role fastmover, would love to see it too!

Think 10 years is a bit too unrealistic.. More like 20 years. ......

And the rest.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

i don't get it

why people keep asking for a new generation aircraft

even the F-16M+ have some systems that are classified;)

F22 will rock in DCS World, I wish someone would make an F-16 addon for DCS World.:pilotfly:

The F22 rocks in the real world, and while it would be fun to learn the systems, it certainly would be a strange fit in DCS world. How do you fit in a fighter that can probably solo kill 6 or more Su27s simultaneously and would be virtually invincible when it hunts in packs?

If the F22 were available, it would basically suck flying anything else in terms of fighters in multiplayer..

Didnt you get the news that newer radar systems detect the so called "stealth" aircraft easily? :music_whistling:

Maybe he didn't read the papers where air forces are actually quite worried about their missiles being almost completely ineffective against F-22's.

After all, those seekers don't use magic - if you've got 1/8th the range on a fighter radar, you've got about 1/8th on the seeker as well, and that's a rather bad situation.

The F-15 is still active, and is receiving upgrades. The Eagle and Strike Eagle fleet is expected to fly until 2025, that's a pretty long time. Also, the F-15E is probably staying around beyond that mark.

You did forget the F-16 (800+ of them :D) on your list of US fighters.

To get an idea, we're already missing some A-10C features because they're classified, and that's an upgraded 1970s aircraft. When it comes to modern fighter, it gets even harder. Coretex Designs (who are making an F/A-18E) had to choose the APG-73 over the APG-79 because of the lack of public information on the latter.

I can't even think how would they be able to model an F-22 and especially an F-35, since it hasn't even been introduced properly.

My vote went to the F-16 because it is at this point the USAF's (and many NATO air forces') 'go-to' true multirole fighter, much like the F/A-18 is the Navy's.

A second reason is that although the thread says "Western", it should actually read American. It's much of a shame to ignore all the European legendary designs. Fortunately third party developers are doing a very good job on that, although so far I've only seen British aircraft.

PS: JAS-39 anyone? :D

Chances of these two modules?

Hey all!

First off, this is based on Scarecrow's topic (<-- thread was moved, so scratch that.), I wanted to ask if anyone has some inside info, or maybe knows ED and their thought process to answer these two questions?

What do you think the chances are of seeing:

DCS: F-16?

and

DCS: UH60?
