Bah, doing bombing runs with the 15C is easy - just dive towards your target, drop your droptanks and level out, and then have your 2 fire some HEI rounds when the tanks have landed. :D

sanCH0, I was talking RL "improvised napalm", but it was in jest - as Eddie noted jet fuel isn't as easy to set fire to as one might think.

 

Funkee, the only people for whom I've seen the Black Shark "dying" (in the respect of being fun to play) for online is the airquake people whose idea of "surivability" is to pretend that their attack helicopter is a fighter. Don't fly solo. Get some friends to fly with, have one or two of them assist you with fighters, and then carry out your mission. I've flown my F15 over Eddie and Panzer and other Ka-50 pilots and greatly enjoy the job of protecting "our guys down there" - that's what the F15 is for after all: establish air superiority or air dominance over an area to let strike assets and ground forces do their thing, and then hold on to that airspace until the job is done.

 

The only case where lack of A2A on the Shark would be a problem is when you are trying to airquake with it. Solution: don't airquake. ;)

I meant lack of self defence A/A weapon, and defenceless in FC2 environment; not a level of detail or realism. You ain't too bright are you?

I'm wondering about one thing. Can the Litening pod project image on the HUD of A-10C? In the "Desert Litening" interview on SimHQ we read:

 

 

 

Q. The LITENING II pod integration on the A-10 means you’re still using the one small display screen in the cockpit as the display. In the A-10, the pod doesn’t project anything onto the HUD (heads up display), for instance. How is the crew workload, in a non-glass cockpit, to use the pod effectively?

 

A. As far as workload, it’s quite a bit higher. You have to realize, though, that the pod is just a tool…it’s not an end-all, be-all. Even with it, you can’t just wander around blindly out there, and you can’t just stare at the screen all the time.

 

 

 

I haven't found much about A-10C and Litening, except this:

 

 

 

"The A-10A had a temporary system for the pods," explains Chief Airman Terry Allen of the 175th. "The A-10C is hard-wired for Sniper and Litening."

 

"In terms of using targeting pods, it's easier now--there are fewer switch actuations," says Capt. Rich Hunt, also of the 175th. The level of fidelity of what pilots are seeing in the cockpit is like going from a black-and-white TV with rabbit ears to high-definition TV."

 

Higher fidelity translates into better situational awareness, and that means faster and more accurate close air support using the Warthog's traditional weapons: the 30-mm. cannon, rockets, laser-guided bombs and AGM-65 Maverick missiles.

 

 

 

So, can the Litening in real life A-10C project image on HUD? Will we see this in DCS A-10C?

Negative, it can't.

Litening-Pod pictures are shown in the MFDs ... maybe only in the right one? Because, i only know pictures with the pod-view in the right MFD.

Like in the F-16, the MFCDs are completely equal in what they can display. That means each MFCD can display any page.

What is the point of buying the most realistic simulator for the desktop just to fly the simulated aircraft in a way that no RL pilot would ever dare to think about? Why not let the Ka-50 fire sharks with lasers on their heads, while your at it? To me that sounds just as absurd, pointless almost.

You do realize that if that were to happen it would be the greatest thing of all time right? That level of awesomeness couldn't be contained within the software of frankly any computer on the face of the earth. Talk about air-superiority brought up to a whole new level.

I noticed that in new screens , there are whole new shadows and lightning system. It would be great if someone from ED team could tell us about engine changes and new features we can expect with A-10.

 

Matt didnt say much about it in the interview.
