Agalloch ... not an obscure Scottish malt, but proof that Americans also can produce some decent atmospheric/black/doom metal (granted, not at Katatonia level but still ...).

For three weeks now I'd been meaning to follow that up with Sólstafir from Iceland, finally found the time to pick a song from them:

 

 

(TBH, I don't understand the video, but the chick is hot and it features what look like the remains of a C-47 :D)

 

Not quite comparable to Agalloch, but I think their sound is incredibly atmospheric as well.

Morricone.

Damn Joey, you must be a telepath ... Morricone's masterpiece has been in my head since yesterday!

Of course it was heavily inspired by Wagner's signature "Leitmotiv"; each character in a story having it's own musical theme.

These tracks are so powerful that even Metallica opens with them since long ("The Ecstasy of Gold").
