Eddie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I do have a couple more questions ... Bingo Fuel. I didn't see anything in the manual about setting this. Is this an option? No bingo settings in the A-10 (either in sim or real life), it's all got to be done in your head. ;) Hard Deck warning. I'd like to set a warning if I go below a specific alt while I'm in a SAM envelope. Is there a setting to adjust this? Yes. Hit the ALT ALERT button on the UFC to cycle between AGL Floor, MSL Floor and MSL Ceiling. Type the desired value using the UFC/CDU keypad and then hit enter to store.
Daze Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 If you land your jet and for some reason you are unable to taxi to parking area, is there anyway to get a repair/refuel/rearm still? Because a few times in the campaign I would maybe lose the tires from my landing gear so it's impossible to taxi to parking area. Thx [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] First to Fight, First to Strike.
Eddie Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 You can repair on any paved area at friendly airbases. Runway, Taxiway or ramp, it doesn't matter.

shagrat Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks. What happens if you overshoot the runway and end up on the grass? Most important is to be on a friendly base for sure! Need to have a friendly unit near the base and no armed enemies near it. Also the base you took off, should be considered friendly. 1 Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

cichlidfan Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Has anyone experience 02 deprivation in the sim? Is it modeled? Do a search. Hamblue Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Are there different HUD Modes? Very often when I am in a server the hud doesn't display the weapon mode, IE guns with rounds remaining etc. It will just show a number It also doesn't show the gun aimpoint with the counterclockwise range. Cycling master mode doesn't help. Ideas? Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive, GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. cichlidfan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Are there different HUD Modes? Ideas? Yes. Start at page 360 in the flight manual. EDIT: The Master Mode is not the only switch involved. Hamblue Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks I've looked in that area and am now. I see teh guns hud ccip hud etc. However what I'm talking about is pushing the master mode and the huds not changing and not showing info such as guns showing ammo type and rounds left. I'll keep looking. :book: Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. Samsung 830, 256 gig hard drive, GTX780 Video Card, Warthog Hotas, Razer Mamba mouse. cichlidfan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks However what I'm talking about is pushing the master mode and the huds not changing :book: I am not an expert but I can't think of a situation, a normal one, where the master mode switch would not change some aspect of the hud each time you press it. At the very least you'll need the CICU and IFFCC on, and your DSMS profiles loaded. There might be other stuff required for full functionality, e.g. the EGI aligned and activated for the TVV. 1
xXSparkHorizonXx Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Is there any point in taking a loadout consisting of Mk-82 bombs over GBU-12s besides the fact they are a little lighter? Since GBU-12s can be launched in CCIP mode identically to the Mk-82, is there any advantages to the Mk-82? I assume that in real life the Mk-82 would be cheaper, but I'm talking about in-game. Cheers.
112th_Rossi Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Spark, I guess that would be a tactical decision. If you were engaging enemies that could shoot back or you need a precision strike to avoid collateral damage, a GBU-12 would be ideal since it can be laser guided. If you're just bombing a few trucks or light threats then MK-82s would do the job nicely, plus you would have the toss bombing option. Just my 2p
EtherealN Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Well, you can toss-bomb GBU-12's too. sobek Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Well, you can toss-bomb GBU-12's too. Not strictly useful, but you can do it. :) Wouldn't it have a different flight path than a free fall bomb with those large fins? I'm not sure you would be hitting anything with it unless it's guiding. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
112th_Rossi Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Well, you can toss-bomb GBU-12's too. Not strictly useful, but you can do it. :) That would interesting. Would it be possbile for a pilot to toss bomb the GBU and then for another to lase the target for a precision strike? That would be a neat trick.

That would be a neat trick. Technically yes, but the A-10 is an abysmal tossing-platform due to its low speed. Btw. you don't need a second platform to lase, if you manage to choose your flight path so the TGP stays unobstructed in the terminal flight phase, you should be good. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Eddie Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Toss deliveries are very useful with both LGBs and JDAM, but as Sobek said, not in the A-10. You just don't have the speed to peform a useful loft, when it comes to high performance fighters however, it's a very different story.
nomdeplume Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Does the DSMS allow you to configure ripple drops for the LGBs? I was also under the impression LGBs are usually released with more energy than required to hit the aim point (i.e. if left to go ballistic, they'll overshoot the target). Maybe this doesn't apply to CCIP releases, though?
shawk2424 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 A-10 NOOB Hey Everyone, I am new to DCS and recently purchased A-10 Warthog from Steam. It looks like a great game and I can't wait to know what I'm doing. I'm no stranger to flight simulators but I'm completely lost when it comes to this one. Since I downloaded the game from Steam, I have now referance material and am having trouble enjoying the game so far. Their is a lot of info to absorb just to fly the plane so I was wondering if you could give me some advise as far as flight control tutorials and. It's hard to do the in game tutorials sometimes because I accidently hit a button and the autopilot turns off and then I'm struggling to try and reactivate it. Anyways, I wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Any help you might be able to offer me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
cichlidfan Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I don't have the Steam install so I can't give you the exact path but there is a Doc folder under the install folder that contains a large amount of Pdf docs. MK82s may be used to dive bomb a single target with one or a pair of bombs or to ripple some 4 to 6 on a convoy of light- or non-armored vehicles with devastating effect. The advantage is one pass versus two or more. More passes mean more opportunities to get shot at ;) Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
