BlueRidgeDx Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 OK, numerous time wanted to ask.. If my flight plan auto-shuffles (AUTO), and JTAC sends a flasher my SADL, and I WILCO,TMS FWD LONG, and Slew TGP to it. Is the target elevation stored in relation to current waypoint? or is it a SOI DTS elevation until unlocked (TMS AFT LONG) For example, my current STPT is FENCE, and I get the target locked as I go through from FENCE to INGRESS. Is the elevation changed? Do I have to make a markpoint (MRK A) and edit the elevation per MSG then shove it to the current plan, disable AUTO SHUFFLE, and SELECT ROCKER TO MRK A?? Or just locking a TAD SADL flasher and slewing all sensors to it make it DTS elevation correct? Is DTS and MSG and SOI inter-related? Yikes. One way to do it is to acknowlege the tasking, hook the the point, make SPI, and slave all. Then take a Mark which will automatically take the symbol's elevation. Then you can CNCL the tasking to declutter the TAD. Switching Mark steering and then you can broadcast your Mark as SPI to your wingmen. The AUTO sequencing of steerpoints does not affect the elevation of the SPI unless the SPI has reverted to STPT (China Aft/Long) and you are in DTS mode. ED Team Olgerd Posted September 9, 2012 ED Team Posted September 9, 2012 It's a known issue where certain failures are either not repaired, or occur again after being repaired. In fact the issue with CADC being not repaired was fixed in 1.2.0. Per this list - http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1499895&postcount=1 "- All possible avionics failures are correctly repaired now - no more inoperative air data related instruments after repair." BRGx, I just want to know if I lock TAD red triangle that flashes will give the gun the correct elevation. Meaning: 1- I just took off from Batumi. I am not following flight plan. currently my steerpoint is MSN001 offshore threshold battumi. DTS elevation selected (MSN001/ 9.7/DTS) 2- I contact JTAC, he sends SADL flashing red triangle. 3- I press WILCO, triangle Solid. 4- I slew TAD cursor to triangle and TMS FWD short once. Now on HUD the = to direction of hook on aircraft datum. 5- then I press again TMS FWD LONG now have solid lock on HUD with range and bearing. 6- I turn toward target, at 4 nm I press HOtas master mode to get guns. 7- I dive an shoot. Is the target elevation correct or need I input manually to a markpoint?? AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Eddie Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 There is a known bug with SADL target data not including elevation, so for now you need to create a waypoint or mark point at the location and input the correct elevation.
SmokeyTheLung Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Question for the experts on safe escape maneuver settings (SEM): I'm practicing a 10 pop attack with mk82s with a starting altitude of 1000 ft AGL (+/- :D) I've noticed that the only way I can get a valid drop is to set the SEM to none, otherwise (given the parameters I'm using) an X is drawn through the reticle. Shouldn't setting the SEM to none basically tell the IFFCC that I'm going to stay in the same direction/attitude after dropping? (in this case, continue flying towards the ground 10 degrees nose low?) and use that assumption to tell me when I can no longer safely drop a bomb? If the above is true wouldn't that make a SEM setting of none the most altitude restrictive? (with a 10 degree dive attack). At the the moment, with the latest build of DCS World, SEM setting of none gives me a valid piper (no X even though the inner ring is well beyond the caret) whereas setting it to TRN, CLM or TLT gives me the X ...Track incoming10 pop.trk Edited September 9, 2012 by SmokeyTheLung System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
BlueRidgeDx Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) You have a few ways of diagnosing a problem like this. The Real Time Safe Escape (RTSE) cues include the Minimum Range Staple (MRS), Minimum Range Caret (MRC), the Desired Release Cue (DRC), and the Valid Solution Indicator (VSI). These RTSE cues are driven by tabular ballistic data and account for various IFFCC settings such as DTOF, MIN ALT, FUSE TIME, and SEM. Safe escape is calculated based on the highest of three altitudes: 1) Fuzing. Based upon the fuze arm time, function time, and Height of Function (HOF) a minimum TOF is computed below which the weapons will dud. 2) Fragmentation. Based upon the weapon frag pattern, a minimum altitude is computed below which you run an increased risk of self-fragmentation. 3) Terrain. Based upon the selected MIN ALT and SEM, an abort altitude is calculated at which the selected SEM must be initiated in order to prevent penetration of the selected MIN ALT. If IFFCC calculates that the highest of these three conditions will be violated prior to weapon release, the Valid Solution Indicator will be displayed in the reticle. When you select NONE as the SEM, frag is no longer considered in the calculations, and the minimum altitude is based upon the altitude lost during dive recovery for a CLM SEM. So what you're probably seeing in the 10 LALD POP is that the RTSE is being driven by fragmentation. You'll need to increase your release altitude. At the Pull Up Point (PUP), try pulling to the desired dive angle plus five degrees; 10 + 5 = 15. Hold that for 5-10 seconds while you acquire the target, then roll in. That should get you above the MK-82 frag pattern. Finally, for LALD deliveries (20° or less), the TLT SEM is usually less restrictive. Eddie Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 For example...... Although as you'll notice that is a low angle high drag, you won't be able to use low drag munitions for a delivery at low.
SmokeyTheLung Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Thanks for another really thorough explanation BlueRidgeDx. I must learn to never assume! At the Pull Up Point (PUP), try pulling to the desired dive angle plus five degrees; 10 + 5 = 15. Hold that for 5-10 seconds while you acquire the target, then roll in. That should get you above the MK-82 frag pattern. Thanks for that as well, I'll give it a go. The parameters I've been using are; Ingress at 1000ft AGL, PUP 2.5-3.5NM, 30 degree offset in azimuth with a simultaneous pull to +30, as soon as I pass 2000ft AGL I roll in. That leaves me lined up with the target descending from roughly 3000ft AGL, 10 degrees nose down. Works well enough I suppose, but the damn X drives me crazy! SmokeyTheLung Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I can really appreciate that these must have been a lot of work, thanks. Echo38 Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Any way to make it so that the info bar is off by default? I can never remember to turn it off at the beginning of each mission, and I'm getting really tired of seeing it (even briefly) after I eject. It's quite the immersion-killer.

Echo38 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Navigate to your track file and open with WinRAR. Locate the options file and open with Notepad++ as per screenshot: Find line 21 and change value of external views from 'false' to 'true'. Close Notepad++, save when prompted and also update file in archive. Exit, run track and you should have externals. Viper, I tried this and it still didn't let me use externals when playing the track. I opened it a second time and did the same process for the Options.lua as I did for the Options file with no extension. Still no dice. Do I have to also enable external camera in my sim's difficulty options, or is there a way of doing this so that I don't have to remember to switch them back each time I finish watching a track?

Echo38 Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Post the track and I'll have a look. Here's one after I changed the external views modifier from "true" to "false" in both the Options file and the Options.lua file. I tested it first with just the one you recommended, and then again after I changed the other as well. http://www.4shared.com/rar/00tn1EBr/Takeoff__Landing_fiddled_with_.html
