Eddie Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hello, I'd like to know how to use DSMS options DESTOF and MINALT in relation to EJECT/ RACK/ UP/ RT to correct for bombing errors. Basically what I'd like to ask is, which of these is implemented? DTOF and Min Alt are implemented and work as they should. The other settings refer to IFFCC calibration settings are are not implemented, nor will they be as are of no use whatsoever in a flight sim. They are there to allow calibration for aircraft/pylon installation, and we will never have to contend with such things. They are not adjusted by the pilot anyway. Second, I'd like to know if LD TOF and HD TOF work in the sim. For example: I'm at 4000, I get 18 seconds on the HUD for a TTIN and I engage autopilot. I maintain a steady speed using combo of airbrakes and throttle changes. LDTOF and HDTOF work fine, but they do not do what you are thinking they do. They perform exactly the same function as DTOF. I set DSMS LD TOF to 17 seconds and HD TOF to 1 second. So when I release the chute 82, from these parameters, will the chute deploy maybe 17th second for 1 second or is it not implemented? In other words, can the chute time be controlled? No, this is not possible. Nor would it be paticularly useful. AND How to use Mils to bomb? What is the size of the CCIP bombing reticle at its widest portion? 5 mils? Referring to PLT OPT = MAN REL setting and not CR CCIP. Does anybody have a dashed PBIL/solid PBIL speed /pitch angle/ altitude chart for DCS A-10C?? I know there is a LASTE bombing guide but I don't think it applies to Charlie. I can't work out what you're asking here, so you'll have to elaborate. Questions as complex as this are also far better in their own thread, rather than hidden in this one where those who can answer may not see them.
Mike Busutil Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Which is?? I'm curious to know "cause I'd liek to update but I really don't feel like reinstalling the modules. Thx! The did not have to install the modules separately, the auto updater took care of it. WildBillKelsoe Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 DTOF and Min Alt are implemented Could you explain their relation to altitude? Like If I'm at 6700, with XXX speed constant, I get maybe 27 seconds on the HUD as a numeric for impact or is it the numeric to release? And if its the numeric for impact, Does LD+HD=DESTOF? Now I'll elaborate on this AND How to use Mils to bomb? What is the size of the CCIP bombing reticle at its widest portion? 5 mils? Referring to PLT OPT = MAN REL setting and not CR CCIP. Does anybody have a dashed PBIL/solid PBIL speed /pitch angle/ altitude chart for DCS A-10C?? I know there is a LASTE bombing guide but I don't think it applies to Charlie. If you take a look at this document, there is complex mention of reticle having crosswind at its widest portion at XXX depression (if I'm correct in understanding). Now how does this relate to A-10C with the improved CCIP moving reticle? The CCIP reticle is a reticle with a pipper inside it. Bombs will land centered around the pipper in ripple mode. It has no unwinding range bar like the rockets, but maybe there is a trick to performing accurate bombing from any altitude, not go as high as 12,000 feet and choke throttle, brake and push down +30 ~ 45 pitch to get a solid PBIL, which is also in the very document. Are the values in the document true for the simulator? Thing is, I've stirred up the bee's nest (Mk-82AIR) and I want to use it to bomb tanks with equal precision to slicks (which are far easier to handle), but given I have no knowledge of even the AIR ballistics or the mechanism of operation (classified USAF shtuff), I feel this is the one piece of the pie that is not going into digestion. Also, If I set LDTOF = HDTOF, what is the effect? I guess there isn't unless LDTOF+HDTOF=DESTOF, which I DONT KNOW, man!!! AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Call911 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 JTAC woes..for some reason i can't get JTAC to respond to radio calls. As far as i know radio frequecies are set correctly(left) side panel. I use the / options to select jtac than select jtac an nothing. Not sure what i might be doin rong..any ideas?
Eight Ball Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Are you sure you have the proper radio set ? Usually it's the VHF FM radio that's used to communicate with JTAC. It's the one set to 12.500 in the pic below Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
Call911 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) Hmm I've played with that an changed some dials around in attempts to get it to work ie transmit/recieve,man,preset,am,fm etc with no joy. Guess i'll try the tutorials on YT again. have watched a cpl an tried it using Dragons JTAC training mission. I even tried creating my own mission for practice but might not have edited correctly, is there a good tutorial mission solely on JTAC (other) than Dragon training pack? Do u just input the #'s an than click load, or have to switch to new preset than enter #'s than load?Thanx! Edited November 19, 2012 by Call911
Eight Ball Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I have the frequencies knob mapped to my stick so I never use the preset option, can't help you wit this. But if you create your own mission you have to set a few option for the JTAC unit (IIRC in the advance waypoint option => Set Option) : His callsign, his frequency and which radio he'll use. If I remember right, the / (or \) radio menu option will only work if you've got simplified radios enabled (Gameplay options - "Easy communication"). If you're using realistic radios, you'll need to open the radio comms menu using the appropriate HOTAS MIC Switch button.

Call911 Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Finally 8)- thanx for the help, now just need to practice slewing to the red diamond an setting to spi, kinda hard with trakIR bobbin around while tryin to hit TMS UP any suggestions on a hot key for that? How do u guys do it or do u just go off the UTM-Lat/Long coordinates ? Hav'nt tried UTM coordinates yet. Really need a better joystick will more buttons.
JS Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 (edited) Really need a better joystick will more buttons. One way I have found to make maximal use of the joystick buttons is to use modifiers. As an example, I have four buttons on the base of the joystick, and I use them as modifiers to my hat switch. Depending on which button I press, I can assign different commands to the hat switch. So basically, by using modifiers I have assigned both Coolie hat, Slew control, TMS and DMS to the same hat switch on the joystick. I just need to press the corresponding button first, depending on which control I want to use. Also, this same hat switch is used for trim when no modifier button is pressed. This is really useful if you have a joystick with fewer buttons. Edited November 20, 2012 by JS
Habu_69 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I am sure this question has been asked like a million times, but damned if I can find the answer. Search function was no help. Inbound to DCSW Tbllisi I attempt to contact the tower using the comms menu system. My VHF AM radio is tuned to the Tblisi tower freq at 138.00. The second menu tier lists 10 of the towers, F1 to F10, but not Tblisi, or Sendaki, either. I can not figure out how access a second page with the additional airport towers. How does one contact Tblisi tower for landing instructions??

I can not figure out how access a second page with the additional airport towers. How does one contact Tblisi tower for landing instructions?? There are 3 airports in/near Tbilisi: Tbilisi-Lochini, Soganlug and Vaziani. According to Wikipedia, Soganlug and Vaziani are both military airports, leaving Lochini as "Tbilisi International", which also corresponds to the frequency of 138.00 in-game. But I couldn't find any reference to the name "Lochini" in regards to that airport. Anyways, in DCS A-10C, "Lochini" is "Tbilisi International", so that's the tower to contact. :) On a related note, the ATC-menu always shows the 10 closest airports (ordered closest to furthest). If you're too far away from your destination airport, simply fly closer until it shows up in that list. Chances are you wouldn't be able to contact numbers 11 and higher anyways because they're too far away. If I read the map correctly, the distance between Senaki and Tbilisi is approximately 250km. I doubt you'd get more than static out of the radio, trying to contact Senaki from the Tbilisi area. :)
Boston87 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Ok so another question. When i press the HARS button caution light comes on and the alarm, fine ok. But when i go back to EGI my Auto Pilot doesnt work? anyone know the fix?
Yurgon Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Ok so another question. When i press the HARS button caution light comes on and the alarm, fine ok. But when i go back to EGI my Auto Pilot doesnt work? anyone know the fix? I just tested that. On the caution light panel, "EAC" came up. Once I switched the NMSP back to EGI, I simply set EAC (below the throttle) to Off and then back to ARM, that silenced that alarm and the autopilot was working again.
