Sticky Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 What texture settigns are available in the beta? I know its WIP and also that it looks much better in motion, but do you think we will get a higher resolution at release? Anyone have any info on Nevada texture resolution beta vs planned? Ells228 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) you sure do have somethings turned off heres a link of the difference http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3107485.html Thanks ToWch, I've gradually been increasing my settings and it now looks as good as it should do without too much fps drop for my machine. Ok, here is with everything maxed out, but let me just say fps is fairly low on my rig but again it hasn't been optimized yet. I'm with Blaze on this one, HDR great for pics and vids but until it's optimized I won't have it on either, not on my rig lol Settings first, then pics, then system specs Asus Formula Crosshair II mobo (Republic of Gamers) AMD Phenom II x4 940 3.01Ghz 6Gb RAM (one of my modules was dead on arrival, not happy) 2x Nvidia 8800GTX OC cards in SLI Win 7 64 bit, although these screens were taken in 32 bit as was using TrackIR 9 FPS in cockpit and pretty much the same with external shots on the ground until I got in the air, then about 17-20 dpending on what I was overflying. Disclaimer: And again it hasn't been optimized so don't take it that these FPS are final on this kind of system spec. Edited October 7, 2010 by Ells228 1
Bucic Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 (edited) How about a mini-walkaround. ;) The model and texture work are incredible, and the normal/specular mapping really gives it that painted-metal look, with all those scratches visible when the light hits them just right. :) Something for comparison ;) I recommend downloading the huge image. 2. Driver settings: Setting texture quality to other value than highest quality is not needed as I have never seen any performance loss due to this setting. IIRC when I had BS running with 35 FPS stable (no vsync) I couldn't even observe any difference. It's safely to say that even if there was FPS hit it was lower than 3 FPS out of 35. At the same time the image quality is superior! Take a look at the lighter areas. Boberro Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 And He is Nasty GG be aware :P I have questions about that HDR regarding to upper pictures... Does it add realism? With HDR on I see much glow and fog (can't expalin it better I don't like it too much, maybe due to I am usedn't to use it), picture is not crystal. I think more realistic is to keep it off, or my eyes see other? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Ells228 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 It makes it more realistic to the real world, which we're not used to seeing in flight sims so it looks a little odd to start with, but you get used to it and then bask in it's graphic'ness glory.

Guest simmer222 Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 HDR is a set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of luminance between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than standard digital imaging techniques. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging http://www.arenalogic.eu
