It is a very draggy configuration. Best configs are 1 weapon/pylon. An exception would be fulda gap scenario where you have 1000's of tanks pouring through, but otherwise 6 mavs just make you slower than you already are, they can damage landing gear pods and/or TGP at launch, etc.

 

Typically your wingman and you have enough ammunition between you to deal with your mission, so you don't need more.

Myself I never saw 3 mavs but yea, in the beginning of desert storm they carried three mavs until they realized the damage the inboard mav caused.

 

And it's not just the mavs, you can't carry an ECM pod on station 6

The rocket motors don't burn coal. ;)

 

But it is possible, I suppose, that other missiles on a LAU-88 could be damaged by other launches. But as you only need to use them once, it's not really a problem. When it comes to the landing gear and TGP however, it might be considered desirable to be able to use them for more than one flight. :D

 

I don't think, unless a missile was exposed to multiple launches, any notable damage would be caused. After all, the launchers we use for Brimstone are triple racks, and they work very well indeed.
