Pilotasso means bad ass pilot. Yup its pretty generic in any language. :D

Isamu77 from my IL2 days. On comms people started using SAM for short because E-Sa-Mu was a bit long.

 

I decided to use Sam77 for all the Eagle stuff and use Isamu77 for IL2 (dont play any more)or SOW when it gets here.

The Three Rules of Callsigns

1. If you don't already have one, you will be assigned one by your "buddies".
   
2. You probably won't like it.
   
3. If you complain and moan too much about 1. and 2., you'll get a new nickname you'll like even less!
   

So, how do you get a callsign?

 

Do something stupid or have it fit with your last name. Obvious examples, 'Crash' or LT 'Cheese' Kraft. Sometimes it's based on a physical appearance thing like 'Carrot'. After you've earned the respect of your buddies, you'll get a more 'heroic' callsign.

Dutch pilot wanted to be called bouncer cause he used to be one at a club in Holland. Bouncer in dutch ("Uitsmijter") also means grilled egg. The squadron decided Bouncer sounded too cool so called him omelet. Lesson learned: NEVER ask for your own callsign!

Was going through basic with a temporary callsign of "Fluffy" and had a soda next to my console when I shouldn't have. Well having a size 15 foot the soda ended up getting kicked over. So my instructor thought, "what's fluffy and has a big foot?" And there you have it.

I was raised beside a cliff edge facing the Sea. The unbridled power and ferocity of the North Atlantic during a High Tide in a winter storm is a sight to behold, a force of nature. I developed a profound respect for the Ocean that fed so many and destroyed so many with the same hand. It was part of my identity. When you are in the Sea you have to watch out for riptides, or nowadays more often called rip currents. Because if you tangle with a RIPTIDE you are fcked. I'd like to think I carry that ideology into the virtual air, with my callsign.

I was gonna join them if I passed my selection... but I failed so I spent 7 yrs in the TA.... non infatry though.... in theoy. But while I was in my C/S was...... 'killer'. Don't ask Don't tell....

My ancestors were silver smiths so I took the name QuickSilver. I know thats mercury and not silver but the name silver is kind of plain. Plus, I like mercury (its such a cool metal).

 

I did take the name GoldRush for a bit. When I flew helicopters I was QuickSilver, when I flew fixed wing I was GoldRush (there both about speed and metal). That was sort of a joke though. The more I think about it thats kinda cool though..............

Liked the sound of it. So I used it regularly. Mad Dog is usually taken that was my favorite back in the Mechwarrior 2 times.

 

In my army days it was Spengler (from Egon Spengler, Ghostbusters).

I wear glasses, talked a lot about technical or academic sh*t in the akward moments :smartass:, some squad mates saw a resemblance :music_whistling:

My chatroom handle here is from my days as a forward observer/ fire supporter, because out on the observation point was where I did my best work.

 

As for my flight callsign, my old FO/FSO radio callsign was Bronco 53, and my most recent radio callsign was Devil White 2. Horses+Devils... well, I could have gone with "Horseman" or "Apocalypse", in reference to the four horsemen, but both were company callsigns in my old unit.

 

So I figured it would be either "Night Mare" or "Hellhorse". Given that I'm also something of a Battletech fan, I went with Hellhorse. (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Clan_Hell's_Horses)
