Forgive me as I've not read into A10's manual in detail so it's entirely possible that there's some system (real and simulated) that I don't know about. I certainly don't claim to know everything! In the absence of such system...why would you get a launch detection on an IR missile at all, no matter who it's fired at? I would only expect a launch warning when you've had a radar homing missile fired at you. It is my understanding that this sort of detection works off the radar wavelength and PRF to tell when a radar system has gone from track to guidance mode and is focused on you. Not sure what the A-10C uses, but the missile defense systems on heavies have sensors that detect a rocket plume burst/IR signature from a launched projectile. That's really the only way I know how to detect an IR missile besides seeing it with your own eyeball!

Basically this kind of kit (CMWS) uses 6 Electro-Optic Missile Sensors to passively detect the presence of energy within a specific band of interest. I know i'm not a "light" in the world of the simulation but, why not don't announce any "week" of release and just take the beta out when she's ready? I think most of DCS players prefered to have a good beta version but not "stealth" date of release. I undertstand totally that the beta 5 need to be report and why we need to wait for the 6. So we can see good points, a lot of bug go out and more "clean" version come to us :) Nice day to all! And sry for my bad english :D /
