aelfewulf Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'm wearing it for my X65, and i find it really improves the performance. Especially when using the twist rudder, my hand doesn't slip. Practical too, cos I don't have to clean my stick that often. The gloves i'm using costs less than $5, it has tiny little rubber dots that is anti-slip. Anyone else?
Pacoche Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 No.. but it's a good idea, mainly when you start the sim and my Hotas Warthog is pretty damn cold!!!!!. Using gloves is a good idea, as you point, for performance.
Le0kong Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 A X65F too here. If it wasn't so hot here i probably will be using too. Another reason is that the metal in the X65F as that cheap Chinese metal smell. You dont feel embarrased enough sitting there staring at dots on your monitor with the oversized joystick, trackir headset and mic (at least its no longer forehead dots) and rudder pedals that you feel the need to add gloves as well?? mvsgas Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 First time I used the Track IR my wife laugh so hard she had to sit down, I can't imagine what she would do if I don pilot gear. :D To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

LawnDart Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) I've used Nomex flight gloves and leather deerskin flight gloves for years with my FSSB modded HOTAS Cougar. Definitely improved my precision and feel flying with a force sensing stick. With the HOTAS Warthog, however, I find I can be more precise without gloves since the stick moves and I have it center mounted. LawnDart Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Ooooh, deerskin, that might actually be worth a go. To hell with the wifey. Hell to da yeaya! P.S. From the mid 90's to just a few years ago the USAF Thunderbirds were the only Air Force squadron approved to use leather deerskin gloves. Sadly, the vendor went out of business, and for the past few seasons they've used Nomex desert colored ones (I believe). Slammin Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Oh, i through he as talking about these simple black, winter gloves, not actual pilot gloves... Really, does it matter what type of gloves they are? You're inside a hopefully heated house while simming. No fear of frostbite. Still, Nomex gloves are just cool! Callsign.Vega Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The only reason us real pilots wear flight gloves is for fire protection. So unless your computer monitor has a habit of spontaneously combusting, I'd forgo the flight gloves. 1 GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM. raynor Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Warthog HOTAS is so cold that I keep my green nomex gloves around so my hands don't get too chilly. That and in case whatever is on the stove in the kitchen catches in fire I am ready to play fireman.
aelfewulf Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 It's a perpetual summer over here, so my hand does get a little sweaty after awhile. So the gloves do serve a purpose. But i have to use really thin nylon/cotton types.

Maverick Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I would point out the hygienic aspect of wearing gloves. Sweat and skin from your hands tends to accumulate on the stick and throttle.. But I don't use them. Wearing protection takes too much sensation away...
Kuky Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I use gloves when I fly (but they are not pilots gloves :)) No longer active in DCS...
RSharpe Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I have Nomex flight gloves that I use for shooting, but they're oil, lead and gunpowder, so no they don't go near my computer.
