hreich Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 If you own an iphone (or similar) you can easily copy briefing text with mission description, comm freqs, package names, treats and etc and read it on your iphone during the flight... I usually start campaign or select mission and just before i go to flight, i exit to main menu, open mission editor and the last mission is loaded in editor. Then I copy all relevant information (which you can get by clicking on briefing button) in a new mail that I send and then open on my iphone..That way during the flight, I can read mission related info, radio frequencies and such.. Itkovian Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) Good idea! And you can also send it to Kindle via name@free.kindle.com. Broody herr... that's brilliant. I don't have the sim yet, but how exactly does this work? There's a button that copies the briefing to the clipboard, so you can just paste it in an email? Can this be done in Black Shark too? *glee* Itkovian Edited March 18, 2011 by Itkovian
ScEBlack1 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 could you explain how exactly you do this, I have an I phone and would like to try it, do you simply write the info in the "notes" section of your phone? (suppose that is one way), curious as to what you mean by "new mail that I send", thanks.
TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 There has to be a way to use LUA scripting to make this automated. TigersharkBAS Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Here is my vision: A little server type app that runs on the client PC that communicates to an iPad or iPhone app via Wifi...sending the briefing text and relevant radio details. Any application developers out there? Sickdog Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I could make an iPhone app for a mission card pretty easily, but I don't have the know how to automatically send the Mission briefing info to the phone... If there's enough interest out there (and nobody else is already working on it) I could make a standalone app that allows you to quickly tap/scroll pertinent info for a mission. My thoughts of the basic most important info (that I usually jot down on a notepad) would be: Flight names and their mission Frequencies Enemy threat types Time on target Any other ideas? Should I begin to write some code? 2 TM Warthog, Oculus Rift, Win10...

Sickdog Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 That would be fantastic, thanks for doing this for the community. Lots of free time on my overnights at work, so no problem. And you're welcome! I'm downloading the latest update to Xcode and I'll start working on it tonight. So please, anyone, start showering me with some ideas of what you'd like to see. :) Thanks! 1 TM Warthog, Oculus Rift, Win10...
kingneptune117 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hey now, lets not forget to make an ANDROID app for this too! Imagine pressing a button in the briefing and having a the whole thing sent to your Android/Iphone! Would be amazing! TigersharkBAS Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 The way to make this cross platform would be a web app. Might even consider writing it to a db somewhere on a website and have the app read from it. quiksilver Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hey! How nice is this! Already using airport charts on the iPad. But of course an app having all the needed info concerning the mission would be way cooler! This would be really sick... Lots of free time on my overnights at work, so no problem. And you're welcome! I'm downloading the latest update to Xcode and I'll start working on it tonight. So please, anyone, start showering me with some ideas of what you'd like to see. :) Thanks!
Sickdog Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Ok, I had less time than I thought tonight, and I'm a bit tired after running a marathon yesterday... But here's a rough idea of what I had in mind after a couple minutes of messing around... After clicking the respective tabbar button, you'll have the ability to use scroll wheels and type in the text fields to edit data pertinent to a mission. The idea is to make it as quick if not quicker than jotting it down on a note pad. This is just the main menu, if you will. I'll do more work tomorrow. I can even get all the airports info in DCS world and plop it in there (radio freq's, runway data, diagrams, etc (and approach charts if someone wants to help provide non jeppesen charts to me... I have a Jeppesen real life subscription that has Georgia included but I doubt Jepp will be happy with me for including their charts in an app!). I can provide all the flight callsigns and aircraft types in the scroll wheels you're familiar with on iPhones and iPads, so the idea is to make minimal text inputs... to speed up the process. Any other ideas? Edited March 22, 2011 by Sickdog TM Warthog, Oculus Rift, Win10...

Dimebag1 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 The way I see it, using lua to export key mission data would be the simplest way, but does lua even work when in the menus? The other thought I had was some kind of clipboard app which uses existing wifi network to import the clipboard info. There are a few apps which do this to my knowledge, can't remember the name. I think it is as simple as copying the text to the clipboard on your pc, and it shows up in the app. This is the simplest pre existing way I can see. But if someone can make their own app that would be great. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
