CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!

Now, what's so bad about a Hornet or Superhornet? I seriously doubt any properly modeled modern aircraft would be disagreeable in a DCS sim.

I just think it's a really ugly aircraft, particularly the aft where the engines poke out way behind the stabs.

I also can't get over the ones I saw in Afghanistan, where our F-15Es were sitting there carrying GBU-31s, -38s, and -12s, and two possibly Canadian F/A-18s that diverted taxied right through our ramp, carrying all of a single GBU-38 under each wing. Wow, way to carry some firepower.

I swear, when they do announce which jet it is, I'm going to collect all the "It can't possibly be the F-xx because ..." posts that were proven incorrect and just list 'em all for lambasting.

There are reasons why that would be and guess what, we are not on the Who's To Know List.:music_whistling:

No, there isn't.

F/A-18E is quite well modeled on the VRS version for FSX there is enough information out there to make it on the same level as DCS A-10C.

Personally, I had hoped it would originally be an EA-6B Intruder. Tandem multiplayer and SEAD/jamming simulation would be an interesting twist. But, after getting that from Wags I am hoping it is an Eagle or Strike Eagle.

I would LOVE an A-6 sim...that would be a blast...one of my fav planes of all time...Imagine the multiplayer missions you could have....ea-6s doing EW, ka-6s air-to-air refueling, a-6es bombing...plus carrier ops...awesome...

Wow. My congratulations to the posters on this thread. I browsed this expecting to see a push for one of the worst combat jets ever placed in the US arsenal: The F-14A. And to my pleasant surprise--not one post! Awsome. What a great community.

As for me, anything will be fine. But given the utter devotion by ED to modeling only what they know I just don't see how it could be anything other than the F15C or F16. Personally I am interested in neither but if it brings more people to the genre then I enthusiastically support whatever they do.

Did any of you actually WATCH the installation of the A-10 release? How many times do they show an F-15 that is very, very detailed right down to the afterburner rings?

The only way one could properly make an F-14 simulator is if it lets you wear aviators and spend the majority of 'stick time' mostly naked around a bunch of dudes.

And maybe some volleyball.

just thinking of the possibility of a fixed wing fighter from ED makes me go all giddy and drool like a big baby :)

Would be awsome to have pilots in flighters protecting the guys/gals in thier hogs.

My prediction: DCS Superhornet this Fall.

IMHO work has already been ongoing for a while now.
