Forum watchers, would'nt it be a far better idea to delete the asshats replies in a thread, instead of closing it down?

In that way honourable people get a chance to express their feelings in a propper way, if uncalled replies get out of hand, just ban the asshats, would keep every one happy....

Works on the 355th forum, why not here?

Probably because everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, wether it's with or against the mainstream, and most of the BS that happens around here that doesn't involve LOMAC itself ends up triggering BS inadvertently rather than deliberatly anyway.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the difference is knowing when to express it. The obvious example is Stormin's thread expressing his good wishes to the UK after the terrorist bombings. Do you honestly think it was appropriate for =Achilles= to post what he did knowing the bad feeling it would generate? for the sake of one person's ill conceived reply the thread was locked so the majority were punished for the minorities actions.

So that the rage acumulated over that time would be spilled once the ban period was over? I think that would cause alot of peaple to get permanaently banned. I think it is best to leave Forum management to those who own it or associates.

If you merely erased specific posts you would only provoke the author to post further even angrier messages.

No post deleting with a reason why is a much more logical choice, it works in other forums.

At most times, thread is getting closed not because of one single post, but because of flaming replies, which turns whole thread into whole new stupid conversation. Sometimes I feel that I don't have rights to judge, which post is right and which is wrong. That's why I usually close a threads, which mutated into unappropriated conversation.

"There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Well i just shared my opinions without insulting anyone. I now know that what is refered to as 'political' is going to encourage people to write crap and get angry, like Stormin's posts. So i wont do it.

I was simply replying to another's post about 'why' such a thing could happen. It was another's choice to post something that would get the thread locked.

Freedom of speech requires tolerance of what is said by others. It's called taking your head out of your ass.

If you dont like what i said, post a reply that wont get the thread locked.

With a little more maturity you might come to realise there is a time and a place to post such political beliefs however much misguided they are.

You have no 'Freedom of speech' on a private site. Period.

Revvin,

I have had to close down two other threads of similar topics.

The "Best Wishes to our UK Friends"-thread was eventually locked because the topic itself is of the sort which is bound to generate political or/and hateful messages.

Achilles,

What can we say? We are not joking. There are moments everyone is expected to show some respect, some decency. You thought it was the moment to show how smart you are. You hurt the feelings of many people on this forum.

Don't you even understand it has nothing to do with you or your opinion? It has everything to do with paying respect to victims.

That you still feel entitled to defend this mistake reveals a lack of maturity. As they say in French, you missed an opportunity to keep silent.

I agree and totally support you on this. I come here for Lock-on and aviation talk not politics.

Topics like this although started in respect will always degenerate into politics. Its just human nature.

I usually stay away from all threads and forums of a political nature.
