element1108 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Man oh man, fantastic news and LOVE the future of this series. There is some serious development going on I couldn't have even imagined. Frankly I'll be all over each and every one of these planned projects. The more features and airframes (no matter the era) in the DCS world the better IMHO. Thanks for the update!
Paco Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Will we have the sadl interface for JTAC? That way we could run the system and replace the questionable AI JTACS with human ones. SADL is just a tool, a human JTAC equipped with an IR pointer, LASER and binos will be awesome....trust me. This will be huge in the gaming world with ED raising the bar for serious air-to-ground fires integration. Looking forward for this new module into the community. Paco
kylania Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 There is no P-51B in the TFC collection. Regards! Exactly: Check out the aircraft that we fly: http://fighter-collection.com/pages/tfc/legends/index.php Though the exact varient that is being modelled we no longer own. Steel Jaw Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Bloody Hell, what exactly is the the coming DCS Fast Mover??? Paaaalease say. "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB.
Mack Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) I hate getting into discussions about future products and considered myself lucky to have come upon A-10C as a release product because there's always so much anticipation. That said, I have to say I'm excited about the prospect of human JTAC. My feeling is that--and this is based on personal experience, having been a customer for CAS (attack helicopter not fixed wing) and having heard the air-ground piece a time or two on the net--our experience is quite sterile. In the sim the JTAC gives us a red triangle, we execute, then after that we orbit and look for targets and call the JTAC again and get a target which we prosecute--if we have the means, from 20,000 feet. That's one reality of modern air to ground. The other reality is a rather difficult to simulate affair. The A-10 is about CAS. And CAS ultimately has a human factor in it that involves an Army or Marine element requesting effects to support an operation or get an element out of danger by eliminating a threat. All this in a world where ground units are in play. Until that can happen the experience will be somewhat lacking. So, I'm excited about the prospect of human interaction with the environment in a movable platform that can find and send target information. I remember my first time seeing elements on the battlefield attack each other by rocket artillery. It was especially exciting. Edited November 13, 2011 by Mack Typos
Wichid Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 SADL isn't completely necessary, it would be better to talk your aircraft onto the target using a laser, coordinates and references. I wonder if the flying legend will still be a jet... Lyndiman AMD Ryzen 3600 / RTX 2070 Super / 32G Ram / Win10 / TrackIR 5 Pro / Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
Kaiza Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Loving the combined arms news. This will completely change online play, can't wait. I hope ED consider the possibility of the commander being able to create units during the battle. Mack Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Yeah, being able to put out marks on the deck would seem necessary. Then you could say "East of my yellow smoke" or whatever. Add to that basic function lasing and uploading target data to SADL and I think that would be enough. Then, the JTAC has to have mobility to get line of sight on targets. Preferably in an environment where enemy platforms are actively pursuing their own goals and can kill the JTAC if they can. Against character I'm allowing myself to be hopeful. I just noticed the bad typing on the last message I wrote. Doing this from a phone is tough.
Nate--IRL-- Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 Loving the combined arms news. This will completely change online play, can't wait. I hope ED consider the possibility of the commander being able to create units during the battle. Hmmm, maybe possible with triggers and the F-10 radio menu? It would have to be built in by the mission designer, I suppose. Or just hold units in reserve on the battlefield and move them as required? Note I have no idea if this is actually possible, but it is a good idea. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
VTJS17_Fire Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Would be cool, if the JTAC in Combined Arms could also control or just use the optics of the MQ-1 Predator UAV. :smilewink: kind regards, Fire Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! Wichid Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Yeah hopefully it will come with all the tools to allow a commander to play out a strategic battle. Being a JTAC would be part of this, but also being able to tell ground units to move, engage, disengage, suppress & defend. Sounds like great fun. Silver_Dragon Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 A good addition for a JTAC can be use with conventional artillery and rocket, submissions, scattered minefields, smoke screen and target markers for day and illumination rounds for night on fire mission with complement to assist air attacks. Other interesting improvement, give orders to ships to fire bombardment by conventional and star shells, and missile launches to designate high priority targets For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

There's quite a few missions out there with TIC calls and smoke being used to designate a target or simply having to fly low and visually check out tree lines or look for tracers in order to find a target and when you do it's a strung out group of infantry so your GPS bomb isn't going to help any. No AI JTAC at all, just inventive and immersive use of triggers and the editor. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Mack Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) I mean, yeah, jeez, if it replicates the C2 functions of a modern US Army Brigade or Division Current Ops complete with Blue Force Tracker, Shadow or other UAV feed, etc, and the ability to direct land forces, and share information with A-10s, that would be an incredible addition to the experience. I was just thinking of a relatively simple set of eyes on the ground. That addresses another leg of the triangle: Air platforms, ground platforms, C2 node. Kylania: That's good news. I haven't seen what you're talking about yet but it's good to know that it's out there. There's a particularly great mission of that sort being discussed over at SimHQ, bit ultimately that's scripted, not actual. Edited November 14, 2011 by Mack Added response to Kylania

Phantom88 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Real nice video from this past summers Duxford air show where many of TFC aircraft were featured Patrick
104th_Crunch Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Thanks ED for the announcement. Best of luck and I hope sales go well for all the planned releases. Personally FC3 sounds ok as a stop gap, but really I am only interested in the next DCS JET release. I have a feeling that if DCS:Flying Legends was your only announcemet, people would have been screaming for blood on these forums! lol Regardless, I will buy all your releases. Your past work speaks for itself. Edited November 14, 2011 by Crunch
Scarecrow Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Looking forward to Flying Legends! Should be cool to have a study sim for an older airframe were you can shoot stuff to! Plz be a P38 :music_whistling: Not to sure about FC3 I'll see how the money is closer to the time, a reworked A10a would sweeten the deal though ;) Combined Arms will be awsome, not my cup of tea but definatley a great addition to the DCS world. Looking forward to your work in 2012:pilotfly:
Rainmaker Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Clickable pits and a revisit to the flight models and I am game. Please...please...get rid of the silly alpha limiter in the eagle. Will be nice to how they are able to integrate all of this. My biggest thought(concern) would be how it will all be integratated togeather for guys that don't have ALL the modules, specifically in MP. I don't really intend to buy BS again(not really interesting to me), but am all for FC3 and the battle commander if some of the above are in consideration or have already been accomplished.
Frostiken Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) The thing I like about an F-15 is that my warthog throttle fits it nicely :) Sort of, sort of not. It's deceptive when they say that it's the same throttle grip, because it isn't, there's some key differences you could work around in your home but in the real world they're totally incompatible due to different switch designs.
