HiJack Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 But this is just the fire angle? Right? The one you just don't see when in cockpit? It has nothing to do with the hit rate bug?

HiJack Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I guess now that everything is split in a base (DCS World) and add-on packages it is possible to individualy patch each product? And then maby smaller patches and more often? Maby? Or? (HJ)

No - that is a feature of the Kamov in that the Vikhr pod can depress downwards and back up again. Nothing to do with bug in the Toad. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? RagnarDa Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I think i figured out a workaround for this meanwhile we are waiting for the patch. When having the target in the sight, first wait for the aircraft to stop oscillate. Then put the target in the lower half of the targeting circle. This will ensure when you launch the missile it will catch the laser beam imediately after launch. When you have launched the missile will travel slightly under the laser beam, therefore compensate by diving a bit or just put the target in the upper half of the targeting circle. After compensating for a second or two, keep the target centered in the target circle and keep stable until impact. You should also check the windspeed in the mission as the Vikhrs seems useless in strong winds. This seems to work OK for me, hope it helps someone. I have tested it some more and it seems better to keep the target at, or directly under, your datum (the cross) in the HUD. This seems to keep the missile going almost straight, especially in a fast steep dive. On some runs it doesn't seem to matter what you do, the missiles just decides to go in the ground halfway there. I think it could be that the dive is too shallow. You just have to babysit the missile and watch if it is struggling to stay in the beam. DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. RagnarDa Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Since the Toad dont have a flight path marker on the HUD, it would be interesting to know the correct AoA you should have when guiding the Vikhr inside the targeting-circle. I can't find anything in the FC2 manual, anyone know this? I took it upon myself to calculate this. From the very first picture in this thread I could tell that the launch angle of the Vikhr was quite exactly 2 degrees below the correct angle. Judging from the HUD the launch angle, or center of the aiming-circle, should be about 10 degrees below the aircrafts horizontal axis. This is confirmed by Boberros third picture, where the missile should fly to the vertical center of the HUD at about 3 degrees below the center of the circle. His AoA is about 6 degrees which would lead us to think he should guide his missile by putting the target just below the top of the aiming circle. Hope its OK Boberro that I drew a little on your picture to show what I mean: And yes, I AM quoting myself in two posts in a row... EDIT: After a lot of more testing, I've noticed that the best way to guide the missile is to put the target above the cross/horizontal plane. If you lose the missile it always goes down and into the ground so just dive more. Edited July 30, 2012 by RagnarDa DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. Relent Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 When it is ready™. Nate Glad to see it's being looked at. In FC2's Su-25T I would usually only have one or two Vikhr's out of sixteen lose lock and drop right away, and get hits on the rest. With DCS' Su-25T, it seems 50% of the Vikhr's lose lock and drop right away, and of the remaining eight about two or three fall short and hit the dirt just before the target. I've found I have to come in at a much higher angle to avoid the Vikhr's hitting short, but the ~50% losing lock issue unfortunately seems to be there regardless of the approach angle/altitude.

If you read my posts and follow what I've written you wont lose as many missiles, not even one. Basically just put your target at the bottom of the targeting circle - launch - dive and put the target above the datum/horizontal plane and fly stable til impact.
