So with all the new announcements, among which we have some carrier based aircraft, carrier operations should be one of the new announcements for the future.

I only now the Dutch based VSTEP which have “Ship Simulator” - http://www.shipsim.com/

VSTEP do a lot of serious gaming simulation for training and development for among others the Rotterdam harbor area here in Holland and other big customers.

Their product have realistic sea characteristics, boot models etc. So maybe they are not suited as a 3rd party developer for DCS. But I could of course be wrong. :detective:

Anybody else know of possible 3rd party carrier developers?

Theres already alot of stuff for carrierops in FC but more would need to be added for carrierops:

vLSO/ATC of some sort-this is an awesome mod for FSX.

Working elevators, catapults.

Deck crew to guide pilots to the cat etc, and to parking from landing etc.

I just hope, it will be possible to join a mission with multiple clients on a carrier, when the aircrafts are selected for ramp start. :music_whistling:

Look at the F/A-18, landing on the carrier deck at 3:28. I think, that it is human-controlled, because AI would never miss the cables :smilewink:

It makes me think, that TFC/ED has a flyable F/A-18 for their military contracts!

Even more proof would be at 3:01, an in cockpit carrier landing with head tracking active. This would be an ideal Christmas release out of the blue. As of course they have developed this for the military market and are porting/downgrading elements to the "games" (pardon my English) version.

As for the flyable F/A-18. It could well be TFC has the connection to a good source upon which CoreTex can build the addon.

Ice, at 3.01 it is the cockpit from the SU-33, flyable in LockOn and FC. ;)

A 33, ok. Thought it was a 27. My bad.;)

The Su-33 is an Su-27 that has been modified for carrier landings.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Same family but there is a little more to the Su-33 than just an airframe modification. Sadly, that's all classified.

Considering, If you open the F-18C EDM in the model viewer, the polygon resolution of the F-18C is by far greater than the other AI Aircraft.

I'm not sure what sort of information that tells you when you look at all of the other really good models within the sim which also aren't player flyable. F-15E, E-2D, AH-64... etc. But of all of the "old" 3D models from LOMAC, the F-18C and Su-25T are at about the same quality.

If you look at both the F-16 and F/A-18 models in-game, you'll notice they've always been better-looking than the other non-flyables, instead on-par with the default aircraft. I heard a while back the reason was initially in Lock-On they were to be included as player aircraft, but the idea was never implemented beyond the models.

Keep in mind that Glowing Amraam made the video, so the F/A-18 could likely have been made player-controllable for the video (like it was common to do in original Lock-On). ;)

Hi

Is there any news on this? Especially with the F14 or worst case F18? Marshalling Stacks, busy decks, taxi-ing, pitching rolling decks, bad weather night landings etc...

The stuff we had a bare taste of with Janes F18, but DCS would make it so realistic and immersive it would be unique in the simulation world.

Please?
