tonym Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I thought I was quite bright, but obviously not! I am at a loss to understand the mechanics of adding DCS World modules. I have installed "World" which now has a number 1.2.0.3205 is this right? The 3205 bit seems odd. I have BS2 (stand alone, as an upgrade from BS1) and want to install it in world. Is the download 2.1.2.0 the correct one and will it install itself into "World"? I also purchased Mustang when it first came out. That version is 1.1.2.1. Is there a patch to upgrade to 1.2.0 or is it a case of a further download of 1.2.0 & install to "World"? Sorry for what are probably stupid questions, but I have always found the various installation numbers to be confusing. Help will be much appreciated.:noexpression:
159th_Viper Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 All the modules are listed under the Downloads/Modules tab on the main site - that is all you need. tonym Posted July 29, 2012 Author Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks Viper, I already found the list, but that doesn't answer my questions. Further clarification will be appreciated.
cichlidfan Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Thanks Viper, I already found the list, but that doesn't answer my questions. Further clarification will be appreciated. There is only on correct version number for all current modules and DCS World. It is 1.2.0.63205. Anything else is obsolete. Regardless of what version you currently have, you should remove/uninstall them (delete saved games folders as well) and install the new version of any modules that you own. Help will be much appreciated.:noexpression: they are actually not patches they are full re-download versions for world. BS2, A10C, 1.1.1.2 for example, is not a compatible download its a full 4.5gb stand alone version. Before the invention of World. The new DCS World which is 4.6 gb is a standalone i.e. ( like FSX) environment. you will down load the new beta modules i.e. A10C, BS2, P51D, etc. etc. which are 1.2.0 at the moment to plug in to DCS World. cichlidfan Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 ... I was talking about the error. File properties is the way I always check version numbers myself. PeterP Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 Well :1 comes before 2... :D And here is a little more insight: Nice try, but you've got the patch numbers all wrong! FC1 used two patch numbers to designate a version; BS/FC2 used three numbers; A-10C/BS2 uses four numbers; it only stands to reason that by the time your hypothetical "DCS F-14" module came along, we'd be using five numbers, like, 1.3.1.5.2 or something easy to remember like that.
Cali Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 It's a version number. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't care about the numbers, but the OP wanted to know. As long as I have the newest up to date one the numbers could be whatever. @ PeterP, what came first the chicken or the egg? i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
joey45 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 The ones that you need are on the download page and at the moment it is Version 1.2.0. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. BigfootMSR Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 While I do not know specifically what version tracker ED is using to keep track of their version numbers, from a coders standpoint, the numbers are as follows. (Major, Minor, Build, Revision) It is quite possible that ED has come up with their own numbers to represent the 4 though. :) Using this same logic, for example, a game that I am currently writing is at version 0.0.0.15 (Yes i am not very far along) :P That being said though, the only numbers for DCS World to be concerned with are 1.2.0. Download and install all the modules from the main page. It does not list any of the older modules on there. Sarge55 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Just one thing to add, I noticed that you mentioned BS2 upgrade. Before you install the BS2 upgrade module you need to have BS1 already installed on your computer. It doesn't need to be patched or anything and once the module is installed you can uninstall BS1.
