It doesn't, it requires Lock on modern air combat, in Oder to comply with legal restrictions with Ubisoft who are the owners of the Lock On name.

FC3 requires LockOn not FC2, there are legal reasons why they have to require it.

Clarifying what is needed to run FC 3

 

Okay. I have just downloaded the original Lock on and the patch 1.02. Is that all I need to get ready to run FC 3?

 

I have FC 2 and I may install FC 2 while waiting for FC 3. I assume FC3 can either be installed over FC2 or as a separate install.

Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .

It's been said many times

 

You need to install Original LockOn only (no need for anny LockOn patch) and have DCS World installed first as FC3 will be installed into DCS World (you don't install FC3 over FC2, FC3 will be DCS World module so it goes into DCS Wold only.)

I'm sure you understand that ED and TFC have lawyers too, and these simple things would have been investigated a long time ago. :)

 

To be more precise, Eddie used the term "Lock On name", but more legally precise would be "Lock On IP", which reaches a bit further.

On the up side, you can buy a copy of LOMAC for pocket change. They ship internationally too. I got mine a few weeks ago. I've only installed it, haven't really played it at all. I'm waiting for FC3 :)

lockon is cheap to get so no need to worry. It's the availability that is the problem and the lack of a digital download anywhere outside of the US.

 

I've ordered a second hand physical copy from the US for 3USD plus shipping and live in New Zealand. My only fear is that FC3 will come out before I get my copy of lockon.

You must install DCS World of course, DCS World is the core that all modules (including FC3) plug in to.

Yes, same as with FC2 installation (which requires original LOMAC also)
