Bluedrake42 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Its 40 bucks... like seriously come on wtf. Just make it a freaking standalone. Black Shark 2 was problematic enough and split the community Stop doing this. 1 http://www.youtube.com/bluedrake42 Subscribe to me
Eddie Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 It doesn't, it requires Lock on modern air combat, in Oder to comply with legal restrictions with Ubisoft who are the owners of the Lock On name.
neroroxxx Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 FC3 requires LockOn not FC2, there are legal reasons why they have to require it. EDIT: Eddie beat me to it! :-) Nero 27" iMac, 3.4GHz i7 Quad Core, 16GB Ram, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2Gb, Running Bootcamp, Windows 7 Home 64bit, Saitek X-52 Pro
sobe Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Clarifying what is needed to run FC 3 Okay. I have just downloaded the original Lock on and the patch 1.02. Is that all I need to get ready to run FC 3? I have FC 2 and I may install FC 2 while waiting for FC 3. I assume FC3 can either be installed over FC2 or as a separate install. Kuky Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 It's been said many times You need to install Original LockOn only (no need for anny LockOn patch) and have DCS World installed first as FC3 will be installed into DCS World (you don't install FC3 over FC2, FC3 will be DCS World module so it goes into DCS Wold only.) EtherealN Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Because that is not enough. I'm sure you understand that ED and TFC have lawyers too, and these simple things would have been investigated a long time ago. :) To be more precise, Eddie used the term "Lock On name", but more legally precise would be "Lock On IP", which reaches a bit further. Darkwolf187 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 On the up side, you can buy a copy of LOMAC for pocket change. They ship internationally too. I got mine a few weeks ago. I've only installed it, haven't really played it at all. I'm waiting for FC3 :) 1

Mohamengina Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 lockon is cheap to get so no need to worry. It's the availability that is the problem and the lack of a digital download anywhere outside of the US. I've ordered a second hand physical copy from the US for 3USD plus shipping and live in New Zealand. My only fear is that FC3 will come out before I get my copy of lockon.
FLANKERATOR Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 will require an installation of Lock On: Modern Air Combat or a previous version Flaming Cliffs. All FC3 installer will probably be doing is checking the existence of LOMAC's or legacy FC's executable file.:smilewink: Situational Awareness: https://sa-sim.com/ | The Air Combat Dojo: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj

Kuky Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Eddie says Only Lomac +FC3.Kuku says Lomac + DCS World + FC3 inside DCS world. What is correct? I am correct :smartass: (mind you DCS World is FREE :smilewink:) Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) is the next evolution of the Flaming Cliffs series. FC3 features the F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25T, and Su-25. FC3 aircraft provide an easy learning curve for new players and focuses on a broad range of aircraft rather than a detailed single aircraft. FC3 adds a number of new features and improvements to previous versions of the Flaming Cliffs series. FC3 is a module of DCS: World, which makes it compatible with all other DCS: World titles like A-10C, Black Shark 2, P-51D, and Combined Arms. Speed Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Eddie says Only Lomac +FC3.Kuku says Lomac + DCS World + FC3 inside DCS world. What is correct? You must install DCS World of course, DCS World is the core that all modules (including FC3) plug in to. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. joey45 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 No need to patch lomac. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
