komemiute Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I try to launch the updater but it keeps on loading the older version rather than starting the update. I'll try again from time to time...
Corvus Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 This update is believed to fix the server list issue. Nice- no crash so far. My YT channel https://www.youtube.com/user/corvuscorp81
Slap_Chop Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I don't even want to say this........ This patch cut my FPS in half from 35 FPS in cockpit to 16 FPS from V 6099 - V6120 I have updated with both today and flown with each Version today. Same settings on both . Deleted User\Saved Games\DCS folder after each patch (Had my input files saved) Seems to be Machine specific. Is increasing some peoples FPS and at the same decreasing others. Are people who are experiencing gains with this patch NVidia Owners and peoples losing FPS ATI owners ? i5 750 @ 3.33GHZ / ATI 5770 / 4GB RAM / Win7 64 Bit. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SmokeyTheLung Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Performance has decreased maybe 20% for me on average. I've got an ATI card System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

Maybe we should have two threads, one where users whose computers like the patch, and one for users whose computer suffer. Maybe a pattern(s) will emerge. Mustang Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 AMD 6850 1gb and it's running perfectly fine for me.
robert123456 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Mine does work better in game and performs well at least on the training missions, the loading times are still as long as 1.2.0 which is long. Im an nvidia user just to let you know.
sobek Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 7870 and no issues whatsoever. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

NoJoe Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I'm an NVidia user (GTX 460), and I had a major performance decrease with these new patches. HOWEVER: I had overlooked that TSAA was turned on in the options. Turning that off brought me back to my normal good performance. Might want to check on that, just in case. That little checkbox is sneaky and easy to miss if you're just passing over the settings quickly. ;) --NoJoe

MIKE_DAN Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 6120 is definitely a no go for me. I can`t even get to fly, the game either freezes or i get a BSOD while loading missions. I5 760@2.80 Ghz / 8 GB RAM / GTX 460 / Win7 64bit
NoJoe Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Is there a major difference in visual quality by turning TSAA off? Just curious. If I look really closely at a fence, for instance, yes. There is a small difference. But I really don't notice it at all. The fps more than makes up for it, IMO. --NoJoe

Quax456 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Just in my case it incresed very slighly the fps ~5. All Settings on High! MIKE_DAN Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) BSOD = 100% hardware or driver problems. I never had any problems with whatever versions of DCS. This is the first time that this happened. I can`t imagine hardware and drivers are OK before the last update, and after the update something is wrong with them. Edited October 3, 2012 by MIKE_DAN
wess24m Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 nVidia gtx 580 here, frame rates have always been great for me, this latest patch just seemed to smooth everything out, shorter loading times as well.
pepin1234 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 AMD 6790 and DCS World always have worked perfect with FPS. I can confirm that the delay loading the missions is now faster [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mustang Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Using SSAA, or Adaptive AA (or Super Sampling AA) on AMD cards is a big nono, it will ruin FPS.
Nate--IRL-- Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Using SSAA, or Adaptive AA (or Super Sampling AA) on AMD cards is a big nono, it will ruin FPS. Especially with grass in view. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Slap_Chop Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Rebooted the Computer. Frames rates back to normal. I do get a small slide show for a couple of secs at the mission start then it's all good. Certainly good enough for me at this stage. I'm Using P-51 Instant Action Flight over Poti for benchmark. I did have TSSAA off but thanks for the suggestion. I do drop 15 FPS anytime I fire the 50 cals. That's been since 1.2.1 all versions. This is the crap that makes programmers go insane. Anyway thanks ED for your efforts here. I realize you're not making a dime off of these patches. Also thanks to all you fellas trying to help each other here and Mods. On a positive note the P-51 is just a joy to fly now. Take offs and landings so much fun. The engine management stuff is just awsome. I've already seized my engine from running it too hard and burned out the starter once already LOL. Great job guys. With this new patch system things will only get better I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy and I've had both. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SmokeyTheLung Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Using SSAA, or Adaptive AA (or Super Sampling AA) on AMD cards is a big nono, it will ruin FPS. Where can I adjust those settings? That's in windows right, not DCS options? ^^^I know that's a pretty dumb question... never messed with it though System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer

Looking at those sys specs, if you dont have pretty much everything on low.... then thats your problem. I never had any problems with whatever versions of DCS. This is the first time that this happened. I can`t imagine hardware and drivers are OK before the last update, and after the update something is wrong with them. or the problem was always there, but previous versions either didnt use that part of a driver, or GPU function, or load the ram as much.
