Even though I wasn't before, with this one now I'm getting a frame hit with multiple explosions - GAU-8 impacts and both kinds of CBUs, that sort of thing.

  • ED Team
its working.. set start like administrator on DCS

DCS should not require admin rights, except for dcs_update_apply.exe.

Please, in case of problems with the sim provide dcs.log at least (and me.log if it's mission editor)

I am very happy with the new build!

Performance on my system has been restored. No more stutters, except for explosions.

I do have an occasional artifact, though;

Building textures flicker from solid black back to their texture when flying low. Not all of them and not all the time, though. Just occasionally.

I don't know if I find the new APU sound an improvement, but then again I never heard the real thing. :)

And its annoying that you still have to ALT-TAB in and out to restore the clickable cockpit.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not sure about the new APU sound either, and I get the buildings flickering also when flying low. Seems to me the first time I "look" and things they flicker once.

The 'flicker' you see is the transition from a .blk model to an .edm model, nearly all the city structures render in this fashion in DCS and have done since it's existed.

a simple text change log prompt at the "new Update availible screen" would be nice.

least we are getting updates almost daily now,

instead of waiting months + having to uninstall and download another 5-7 GB and re-install everything, only to be dissapointed and uninstall and shift to older version again.

Just tried the latest version on Attack Insurgents at at one point it dropped to 7-10 FPS which I've never had happen before. It was also quite stuttery, including just as I was trying to land, which smacked me into the ground (which I'm normally quite capable of doing by myself thank you!)

EDIT: I was monitoring whilst playing and it hit a max of 92% GPU and 45% CPU. It seems the GPU Core clock only went to 725Mhz instead of the normal 800Mhz though, so that's a problem. Memory clock went to 1250Mhz properly.

With all these updates, which can only be welcomed, it makes it a bit problematic installing mods as we don't know if an update will replace any of the files the mod's installed. Anyone got any ideas on how to manage this?

I suppose the best solution would be an app manager, like modman, that can check whether the installed mod files are still intact after an update and if not, replace them but I doubt anyone's got the time to write that for us.

Or perhaps they can use the updates/announcement functionality that is already in place from the main menu? I like knowing what has been changed, no matter how small.

The problem is that we recieve now updates similar to the testers. While the testers are getting daily updates for upcoming products, we do recieve them for the released versions. But the process is the same. As soon as the Version on the ED servers has been changed with new updates, so we recieve them as well.

it would nearly cost ED a full employee more just to dig out all the changes for each patchupdate and put them in a changelog.

The right way is to run each new Version and report new bugs or even say what you like..

my guess on this

i can say they have change logs somewhere already,

So if a update seriously screws something up, they look at the change log to see what they changed and go back and troubleshoot/debug.

Hopefully all these issues with the terrain is because they are prepping the rest of the core for the EDGE engine.

fps slightly better but not as good as 1.2.0

mouse cursor still annoying

still severe micro stutters... sometimes 3-4 times in one second

loading time better, but not as fast as 1.2.0

still big difference between lights on/lights off on aircraft (10-15 fps)

new apu sound is no improvement...on the contrary

Gau impact explosions look "comic" style... I would appreciate a menu option for the alleged eye-candy on explosions like Gau/CBU's... they cause a severe impact on fps and should be possible to turn on/off
