Just like Fa-18 Hornet game back in the day made by Graphic Simulation Corp/Graphsim back in the late 90's. Enough of the greenery, I want the desert theater. No more Russians, I want to shoot down middle eastern pilots in their Mig 23's. New theater either Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi freedom style, replicate missions, DCS already has most of the jets modeled. I saw the Beta for A-10C had Nellis AFB created....where did that go?! Implement it!!!! Russia/Georgia is getting a bit boring now! This theater along with the release of the New Hornet Module that'll be next would be ideal for us flight simmer's! Make it happen for the late summer or Christmas!!!

Couldn't the developers also reintroduce the old Crimea theater with some slight upgrades? It would take some work but it was a great place to fly around. I remember flying there in the original SSI Flanker in 1995 all the way up to Lockon.

Maybe the airfields would need a bit of a makeover but it should be manageable in an acceptable timeframe. I know it would be Russians/Ukrainians again but it would be a quick and easy map (I guess?).

This is the 104th server :D

sorry....

This is not a game anymore!!!

We should never forget, in the comfort of our HOTASed armchairs, that there is real people involved now, and all this is becoming quite scary. Not a simulator. There is no pain simulator!

In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust...

In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D

That doesn't make it any less interesting. WWII was full of real people, on both sides, but it's always a topic for simulation and reenactment.

I really want the Crimean added, but not because of current events.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

It is true that Crimea was fun, back in LOMAC's time!

But perhaps the situation is a bit too sensitive right now, no?

Just a question of timing...

If DCS wants to make a military trainer simulation, I am okay with that.

God knows this game fails in so many ways, I can't see how threatening the idea of virtual war in a local area could be.

Of course you are right! I, and, I believe, many others of us, sincerely hope that current events will be solved peacefully and without further violence. But, even if those events don't evolve into a real war (and again, I really hope they don't), it does not mean we cannot use them as an interesting backstory for our fictional missions.

When I fly combat missions (I usually don't), I want to have some believable backstory. Like, there were military tensions in Abkhazia. Sure, nothing that big as we have in DCS, but still - you can take real world events, make them a bit more dramatic, and you have a believable scenario that just could have happened. Still better than a war breaking out in downtown Las Vegas, right? :music_whistling:

I hope that there's no need to say that playing fictional wars on my PC does not make my respect to innocent victims of any war any lesser.

That is the spirit! Always appreciate constructive criticism...

I don't see the problem - we flew over the Crimea for years with LockOn and it should have been added to DCS World ages ago. And surely it would be one of the easiest solutions for a new map.

The current political situation shouldn't change anything, perhaps it just reinforces the fact that the Crimean map was fitting/believable when it came to re-enactment. The war between Georgia and Russia in the simulation's current theater wasn't too long ago either.

However insensitive it may seem now, IIRC, the Crimea area map expansion for DCS World was requested before, probably many times as it provides more options for various alternative scenarios including Ukraine and Russian Black Sea fleet.

It goes without saying that hopefully the current situation won't escalate any further and the possible conflict will remain only in the virtual domain.

Crimea in FC3?

Wondering If is there any chance to have Crimea populated again, both with airfields and buildings/roads? Or even a mod that add the airfields and buildings back? Think it will add a lot to have proper bases for Ukrainian birds.

Thanks.

I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
