SafetyTurtle Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Good things are worth waiting for ^^ Just wanted an update or some such...looking forward to what you'll come up with. Seeing as there's both a Hornet stick and DCS module in the works, will you be making something for that in the way of gauges as well?
agrasyuk Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 But the laser cutter I was going to use came with a broken laser tube so I'm waiting on a replacement. Well, it was never easy so I'm kind of used to stupid things like that by now. . Yep, nothing like seeing puddle of water when you hookup your new machine :) Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
swither Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 at $150 i'm interested as well! /Daniel Heatblur Simulations
glynd02 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Yep I would be interested at $150 as well so long as shipping to the UK was reasonable :D
SageOT Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Go ahead and get started on, battery gauge, break pressure gauge, compass, and ECM counters for the F-18C. We're going to need those too... well I am. :music_whistling::thumbup: VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord
Zodiac Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 hey those look sweet do you have the final price on A10C engine guages and the ADI and HSI??? please email me at Lyakhovichigor@gmail.com
NeilWillis Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Definitely a project I am interested in too. How are things progressing?
Griffon26 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Since there hasnt been an update so far im wondering whats the progress doing :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Never parachute into an area you've just bombed You never have too much fuel, unless you burn.
hegykc Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 2016 is going to be the year of building: Sorry it took so long but there was a lot of stuff to do. And connecting panels was a fairy tale until now. Now that we have dcs-bios, it's time to go big or go home. Designs have been simplified drastically so you can expect the engine cluster in a month, followed with much, much more. www.replikagear.com
Ragtop Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Wow, I would bite your arm off for that A-10C right console. 476th vFG Alumni
Gadroc Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Looks good... I hope thats an arduino due w/ a ARM processor as I don't think you'll be able to smoothly run 14 steppers off an avrmega chip.
reaper7 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Best of luck in the prototype. Looks like your going to have some fun. Reminds me of my own desk

I hope thats an arduino due w/ a ARM processor as I don't think you'll be able to smoothly run 14 steppers off an avrmega chip. Yes that's a due. I'm aware of the 4 stepper limit for the Uno, I guess about 16 would be a limit for the Due. But I've already changed the design to use 12 servos + 4 steppers for the 4 mini continuous pointers. There are examples where people drive 80+ servos off a single arduino, with 992 servos being the theoretical limit. Prototype 1.0 will drive the motors straight from the Arduino Due, but Prototype 2.0 will drive all the servos in the A-10 simpit through an I2C channel like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/815 http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCA9685-16-Channel-12-bit-PWM-Servo-motor-Driver-I2C-Module-For-Arduino-Robot-ft-/321779216291?hash=item4aeb892fa3:g:428AAOSwrklVeD-J With dcs-bios copy/paste style programming I can probably get the 1.0 running myself, but I'd love to ship one out to you if you're still interested, maybe we can get 2.0 to work with the 16-channel I2C driver, so a single arduino could drive all the instruments in A-10? I had a dream of sub 10$ instruments when this began, and now that is true. There are 14 motors in the engine cluster, and I already know it can be sold for less than 140$, if we can get it working on the I2C driver, it could be a sub 100$ component for the pit. Gadroc Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I have one of those adafruit board sitting right here and a pile of micro servos. Was just about to start designing my EMI cluster.
hegykc Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 I have one of those adafruit board sitting right here and a pile of micro servos. Was just about to start designing my EMI cluster. Well, I have spent quite a bit of time on these. I've even completely re-done the MS33558 font from scratch. The free one was traced over a fax someone sent a graphic designer so nothing was up to spec. I've re-done it as a parametric cad drawing, with all the thickness/width/height ratios per MS standard, all the letters are in ratio with each other according to MS etc. And imported it to a font designer, and used that for all the lettering. Each dial, each long/short marking, each pointer, every single line is a parametric drawing according to their mil specs. So if you want to take care of the arduino code and save time on designing the unit, you can expect a complete set next week. When are we going to see a cheap UFC hegykc? That's a no-brainer, really. I've built several acrylic bending tools/jigs, until my laser and cnc become operational I have access to industrial size cnc and laser machines at a local entrepreneur startup center. So now I have all I need to manufacture these designs. And make them look real nice, with enclosures, rounded edges, custom backlit rounded buttons etc. This month will be all about panel building... www.replikagear.com
Gadroc Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) I'll get the arduino code working. I think I sent you address information before. Let me know if you need it. Edited January 7, 2016 by Gadroc phone typos
hegykc Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) Ok great, yes I have the address. Here's the simplified design: The arduino in there is just until I finish the rest of the MIP, then the whole MIP will be run from a single arduino, like left and right panels. This is the "basic" version, with simplified cosmetics to lower the cost. It's just 1/8" thick, there's no glass on the instruments, no 4 mini gauges, no rounded edges on the acrylic, no rings protruding out and no light bulbs/mounts. On it's own it doesn't look special, but combined with the whole MIP it'll be the bomb. On it's own it'll be $99, but combined in the MIP it'll be more like $65. Also the render represents the glossy acrylic I have on hand (only for the prototype), I have matt black on order for the actual units. The "Pro" for those who can afford more, with all the cosmetic stuff included will be more like 200-250. The basic version goes to the cutters next week. Along with some other goodies :music_whistling: Hardware wise I'm ready: Edited January 8, 2016 by hegykc www.replikagear.com

hegykc Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 what are the over all dimensions for your engine gauge cluster? Mine are slightly different then what Lynx provided. I will check and get back to you on that. But it doesn't really matter. I know that as a standalone engine cluster, for people with existing simpits, I'll sell maybe a few units. So I can cut custom individual mounting plates, per request. And for the rest, it'll be mounted on my own MIP panel. www.replikagear.com
