The_Pharoah Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 hi guys I'm a noob with DCS stuff so I've started learning the SU25 from scratch, however I can't seem to fire missles (tv guided) eg: - I line up the target and select 7 with vkhir missles - shkval on, slew to target and lock - reduce size of target to around 10m (vehicles) - I then put the target in the missle aiming reticle (heck I even tried turning on the laser arming mode) - I then get the launch authorised notification and I'm within range however when I hit space or my joystick button to fire (which works for cannons and rockets/bombs), nothing happens ie. no firing. Same happens when I try a SEAD training mission. any suggestions? am I missing a step? I'm only able to fire one since when trying to fire on a secondary target locked up and LA displayed in Shkval the second Vikhr it's not ready, wonder if I'm missing something? /KC

I'm only able to fire one since when trying to fire on a secondary target locked up and LA displayed in Shkval the second Vikhr it's not ready, wonder if I'm missing something? /KC I have my own rather crude method nailed down - i always disable launch authorisation (left alt w) and fire the first shot when in range, shortly after that i'll manually deactivate the laser (right shift o) then reactivate it again and fire the next, once you've done this a few times and mastered it you are able to strike several targets in one pass.

SFAL Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Yes the LA override is a key for fast and hard hitting sorties... Observe the folowing... find target... lock.. engage LA over ride...select viks... on the hud when the target reticule starts decline..(the outer ring) fire... from 10-11km out you can do 3 easy 4 with practice.... dont forget to throtle down put airbrakes on and keep speed around 400. on your last lunch max throtle and egress.... Kh29L can be fired from 19km and the Kh25L 17km.... with LA override.... if you have hotas have airbrake togle, laser, LA override, weapon change on it... makes life easy
seikdel Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I believe you don't even have to manually reactivate the laser when firing multiple Vikhrs, just deactivate it and fire again. You mentioned TV-guided missiles. One pro-tip I figured out for both the TV and semi-active laser-guided missiles: The plane has to be pointed close enough to the target for the missile to pick it up with its own receiver. The missiles have a gimbal limit, and if the target is past that, the missile won't be able to acquire. That's what makes the difference between a flashing LA and a solid LA when you're in range.

Nate159 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 My su25t shkval monitor doesnt show vehicles but it will lock on to them once the camera is within 50m it will show it. this is really anoying as i can only find enemys using the hud
