I wonder if there is a difference in the ones issued the MW50 from the factory and the field upgrade kits...

I see your point there. However that in-itself is open to further debate. Some documentation indicates a simple ON OFF switch on the left console near the throttle. Other documentation (lmages with description) show a substantial Valve type switch located on the lower main instrument panel above the pilots knee. A drawing of this is in the Aerodetail book 2 FW190D9 (note there are some errors in the diag)

D9MW50diag_zps7042c0d4.jpg

whilst a WWII image showing this valve is present in the Dora book by Eagle publications authored by Crandall. Interestingly this aircraft does not have an mW50 pressure guage.

D9MW50dia2_zps27b01413.jpg

I guess there is also further complication as there are references to Both Low Pressure MW50 systems and High pressure MW50 systems, though some confusion exists as to exactly which D variant got what. What is certain is that initial operational D9's were not equipped with MW50. It is my "belief" that the Valve type on off lever and lack of MW50 guage implies the Low pressure MW50 system. If a Gauge and On/Off switch near the throttle is present (seen in many TA152 cockpit images) then that is indicative of the High pressure MW50 system being fitted. The absence of any MW50 controls and or switches implies No MW50 fitted ... as in the initial early operational types. However it would appear that the majority of operational D9's were equipped with MW50 be it Low pressure or High pressure systems. So the norm was MW50 equipped.

Looking at various "restored" D cockpits leads to further confusion as instrument layout (and even the instruments themselves) is very confused. Some have an additional fuel gauge in place of the MW50 pressure gauge for example. Seems to me there was a hole so the restorers decided to fill it with something.

Such fun researching these things :)

Or parts shortage at the end of the war? The instrument panel was originally made of aluminium, but at the end of the war plywood was used.

Found some German spelling mistakes (in the in-flight pictures some of the mistakes are gone), listed below.

Main instrument panel:

Notzug für bedien-Getr. → Bedien-Getr.

Achtung KompaBeinstellring verstellt sich → Kompaßeinstellring

(ß → Alt 0223)

Left instrument panel:

Frequenz-wahlschalter → Frequenz-Wahlschalter

Right instrument panel:

Kraftstollpumpen → Kraftstoffpumpen

On throttle:

Drehzahl Grober Kleiner → Größer

(ß → Alt 0223, ö → Alt 0246)

Missing the "Aus" on the bomb fusing panel, see picture below.

Source: http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/fw190cockpit/CockPitMap.html

BombPanel_FW190A8_DM_01.jpg

Would like to add space to MG131, MG151 on the shot counter control panel → MG 131 and MG 151 (see picture below).

Also add shot counters as in picture below.

Ammo_FW190A8_DM_01.jpg

And finally ... no MW50 switch on this Fw 190A-8, but prop pitch selector (automatic or manual, where the propellor pitch was manually set using the thumbswitch on the throttle). Looks like this switch could have had various functions ...

Yeah I can see it dragging a few people over from Aces high. All you need after that is a few B-17's for the 51's to defend, even if they are AI.

I am already here and have been for a couple of years since DCS A-10C (not World) hit 1st release, non-beta. A few other guys are already here, too, before me. Some guy to Aces High told me about the Ka-50. I never went back to Aces High, it is too arcade.

I played Aces High for 5 years, my first Internet MMO air sim and flew most of their aircraft including the B-17, but preferred the B-24 as it climbed faster, but its ceiling limit was less. B-17 in this sim could reach 37,000 feet. Not too many pilots can fly well in the thin air up that high. That game I could man any gun position in a bomber while also a pilot and bring one real human gunner with me to help out. I had my favorite fighter planes. Hellcat and F4U are fun in their era. I was not fond of the TA-152H (souped up FW190) but did reach 40,000 feet in it. In a quick pass it could tear up a bomber.

In DCS I'd buy the F-18 and the FW-190. Doubt I would buy a WWII bomber sim. Bring in a Spit and a F4U.

How does it perform against the P51? In the world of warplanes beta the FW was slightly faster than the P51, but less agile. is this in anyway realistic?

Would this be a realistic dogfight or will one of the two always run for it?

Not sure of the accuracy of Wikipedia.

Also I wonder of the accuracy of the graphs to the real plane, but Aces High stands by them and go to their forums, their users are every bit as serious as to authenticity of history as anybody found to DCS forums.

Did a Google search:

Again, is there a possibility of MW50 in the future if not in the initial release? Perhaps it could be an optional system that can be configured by the user or a server host? Sorry, but I think many are going to ask for this repeatedly until we have it! It won't be possible to model an aircraft like a Bf 109G-10 without MW50 boost.:joystick:

Thanks, and I look forward to the Fw 190D-9 in DCSW.

1900 PS is not bad solution. It doesnt requite aditional tank for MW50 and still performacne of D-9 is good. The best thing would be if we could get both version but still for me 1900 PS is also good.

Wow, I really like that sound! Do you have a similar youtube preview of your P-51 sound mod? Didn't find it with a google search.

Awesome! Sounds fantastic. These P-51 sounds should be default.

I see someone has been enjoying himself with a flight from Batumi in a Fw 190 D with HUD ... whahaha

The spent cartridge animation looks nicely done, just needs a little tweaking to prevent cartridges from seemingly entering the cockpit. Make them bounce off the cockpit.

Wtf...? Who is this Petia Kholomin (uploader)?

Looks like a test flight to check gun firing animation. I see no harm in posting some progress on the "Dora" once and again, but of course I hope posting this video was done intentionally (as some kind of "Easter egg", to keep us fanboys sharp).

I appreciated that too, but I will be happier to see this from some official chanel...

Time to kill those B-17s that are attacking our families ...

You're right ... official update is appreciated at some point.

Yes this was a hack.

I have spoken to a couple of guys who managed to do it, it uses a very very simply sfm and the engine start/off doesnt work along with most other things.

Until the mod OR module come out I will just have to enjoy my FW 190a. 100" wing span. Should be ready to fly in about 2 months.

Nothing new as of late, which probably means they are doing a bunch of stuff that most of us wouldnt understand at this point... although Yo-Yo mentioned something about working gun syncros not to long ago...
