Lord_Pyro Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Altough the Startup of Hornets is already well known, teached by various sims. It's not like no one ever did a hornetsim beforehand. So first thing we'll do is to ramp up at an carrier (if ED delivers some major improvements to carriers, like a crowded deck or rampstartpositions (the system we have right now would be an show stopper!)) line up at the cat and shoot that brid in the air! (and of cource try to land back on deck without ils, just by the feeling and eyemeasurements) :) I long for that day! [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic70340_1.gif[/sIGPIC]

Totally. And the same procedure as previously mentioned. I cannot wait! DCS is going to improve even more. Hope we get an estimate on when they will release these new birds after they complete FC3 or even when they release 1.2.4. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SUBS17 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Trying to get this thread back on track. What will you guys do first with the F/A-18C? I will most definitely do carrier ops online non-stop. I am also hoping that Thrustmaster releases a F/A-18C or F-15C joystick attachment. That would be amazing! I'll go straight into carrierops on the boat, I've had plenty of practice. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
IonicRipper Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Makes me want to watch Jetstream again to get ready :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jetstream_%28TV_series%29 Thanks for that, I didn't even know about that series. Steel Jaw Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I have purchased and watched Jetstream many times. Great series. Their training and accomplishments are quite impressive until you stop to consider missing vital aspect that USN aviators must deal with: the final hurdle in USN Hornet training is the Boat. And the boat can still cut you from the program. I suspect a couple of the Canadian Forces pilots who squeaked through the program may yet have been DQ'd at the Boat. toni Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 So......, will the F18C come by itself I mean land based? A proper Carrier simulation, able to steer into the wind and set different speeds is mandatory I think. If not at the beginning,a future Naval Ops can content full CBGs,with operative detailed vessels. Mmmmmm, concerning Carriers, what do you think about starting with the SLEP Forrestal class and keep moving forward till reaching the G.Ford class, this in a couple of years?

Rider1 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Did you guys ever play Graphsim's Hornet Series or Janes FA18? Fantastic carrier ops in both of those. I remember playing Janes and it had carrier landing training missions. One of those, if I remember correctly, was really really hard. Pitching deck, black night, lightening. Really really challenging. I remember my buddies would come over and we would spend the evenings drinking beer, huddled around my comp, taking turns shooting carrier landings. Cheering each other on and talking smack.. Pretty damn fun. The Hornet is my second most favorite airplane of all time, so I am pretty excited to transition into a new jet.
