Oznerol256 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I know there will be someone saying RTFM but im telling you: I read the ****ing manual and i didnt found it. What is that U-symbol on the RWR? It showed up on DRAGONS Thunderstuck. It kept on by rwr all the time and i just want to know that unit procudes this u. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sarge55 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I believe it is a ship radar. Were you near the coast? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 10700K OC 5.1GHZ / 500GB SSD & 1TB M:2 & 4TB HDD / MSI Gaming MB / GTX 1080 / 32GB RAM / Win 10 / TrackIR 4 Pro / CH Pedals / TM Warthog
Nealius Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 U is normally for unknown, at least in the F-16, and so far in my experience with DCS the RWR symbols should be the same regardless of what aircraft you fly.

Harzach Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=63162 I've looked through all of the documents I have, including this one, and none mention what "U" means. I've always understood it to mean "unknown" though.
Maachine Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 what about W? i asked this before and never found an answer.
Vlerkies Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 We had a U in Bacteria mission the other night and I reckon that was the UAV/Predator JTAC Thermaltake View 91, Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra, i9 9900K, Corsair H150i Pro, 32Gb Trident Z 3200, Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 2080ti, Corsair AX1200i, Warthog A-10 Hotas, MFG Crosswind pedals, TiR5 Pro, HP Reverb Pro
Eddie Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 The E-3C is "E3", the E-2C is "E2" and the A-50 "50". There is no "W" in the RWR database for the A-10C, the nearest is "SW" which is the fire control system of the Kusnetsov aircraft carrier. EW doesn't exist either, search RADARs are displayed as "S". The FC3 aircraft may have different track files though so no idea what symbology they use. "U" is indeed an unknown track, and far more common IRL than in DCS.
Britchot Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 We had a U in Bacteria mission the other night and I reckon that was the UAV/Predator JTAC I know the original question has been answered but just to clarify, Predators don't have that sort of radar. Nealius Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=63162 I noticed on that page someone had an 'M' indication for an active-homing missile coming from a MiG-23. Since when can the MiG-23 employ AA-12s? The only English info I can find on the net says that the MiG-23 used the AA-12 once for a test and that was it...

HiJack Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Sorry, I was mixing in with the russian symbols. Here is some more information but on threat symbols http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68182 Edited March 27, 2013 by HiJack
Maachine Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 i swear to god i see a "W" on my RWR. i'll take a snap shot of it next time i see it. i've seen it a few times on different single missions that come with A-10C. cant think of which missions off the top of my head right now. i want to say smerch hunt and one other mission.....
Maachine Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 nevermind, an up close look at the RWR during smerch hunt is a U not a W. looks like a W from afar.
Britchot Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Predators don't have radars like that. ...Predators don't have that sort of radar. :megalol: Only because I <3 you! Kaiza Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I saw this in a mission a couple of nights ago, I was definitely getting an 'airborne unknown' from a predator. I believe this is bug. Maachine Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 i agree, it seems like i get the "U" whenever a predator is in action
Guest Izoul123 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Yep, got the "U" in the A10 on Gudauta Rush, and was still up after mission complete, it's gotta be the UAVs.
ENO Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 It's a U with a little ^ over it, isn't it? "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
HocusPocus Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 yes, 'airborne unknown' in a10. in russian aircrafts they appear on the SPO as 'aircraft' threats as well.
Ebs Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Got one of these the other day. Glad I took a screenshot now! Check out my guide to JSGME for DCS World.
Maachine Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 yes everything i saw was an airborne "U". but scrolling though the externals views...i didnt see anything weird except for a predator. maybe a tanker perhaps? do they have radar?
Guest Izoul123 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Brit and I are talking IRL. Who know what weird shenanigans they programmed into this sim. Aye, I agree it's a 'flaw/error' and shouldn't be modeled due to no radar, I agree. I'm talking just confirming what the simulation is showing is all. But yes, I agree with you guys. Just wanted to clear that up. Cheers! For sure it was the 3 UAV's as that's was all that was up after the mission aside from me and one other players in A10's landed at Shukumi before closing down the mission.
