Mt5_Roie Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 So I just did my first flight in the Huey. I managed to start her up ok using the checklist. Takeoff was a bit rough (need to do training still). I was able to control her flying to a range we have on our dedicated server map. I figured since I wanted to try to door gunners I'd use the orbit autopilot. Well, it was going fine until the autopilot slammed into the ground. So first flight ended in a crash....but is it my fault? So I have to set the altitude hold before a orbit autopilot? element1108 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Crash or no crash, you are able to fly it RIGHT and for that I am envious (but in the most positive way possible). *droooools* what I wouldn't give to crash and then crash again...AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!

CH fighterstick is very easy to control and now after axis tuning it looks like furias hovering lesson... sometimes ;) [sIGPIC]http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b582/sorcerer17/sorcf16-b_zpsycmnwuay.gif[/sIGPIC]

IonicRipper Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Watching the stick move around at the beginning was funny to watch hahaha. Looks like fun! I'd buy it if i had a set of rudder pedals. Rongor Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I did my first flights a few moments ago. I experience some weird behavior: Whenever I decrease the collective pitch, the nose drops down remarkably intense immediately. I never flew a Huey in RL but I can tell from EC-135 that this is way too much instant reaction. If I decrease pitch, I would expect to get a descent rate but the flight attitude normally wouldn't change (in the beginning). Here in the sim I instantly have to pull the stick back to counter the dropping down of the nose.

Also a dual rotor helo will probably handle differently than a four rotor helo? No?

eurofor Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) What a joy to fly! It did try to kill me at first (screenshot) but we have become friends now. It's just like how I would expect a helicopter to handle (have only flown them in RL twice in passenger seat). And the damage model adds to the fun. Spent a few minutes circling over some enemy units taking small arms fire. Landed safely but half my crew died. Great fun! Big thanks to everyone involved in the development!
