112th_Rossi Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I don't think the community discussing the 'news' is a bad thing. It's good that we get fresh new info each week. It can only serve to keep things interesting.
howie87 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I'm of the opinion that any news is better than no news. We live in an age of instant updates and it's great to see ED and Wags in particular, going some way towards trying to provide this for the community. I enjoy seeing healthy debate on the forums and having our concerns addressed and questions answered in a timely manner. Updates like this are a valuable tool for both the community and developers and for this reason I hope they continue.
GC1993 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Thanks ED Totally agree with this thread, I still can't believe how disrespectful and impatient some people are being towards ED; these moaners wouldn't even have amazing products such as DCS BS2 and A10C if it weren't for ED putting in the hours and effort to ensure maximum detail and customer satisfaction. I only worry that ED read all of the negative posts and assume they form the majority of customer opinion - well they don't! ED does fabulous work, and I have no doubt that F/A-18C will be just as much of a masterpiece as A10C. I'm also hugely grateful for what's been included in Flaming Cliffs 3; they've added so much more than was originally planned and for this I (and I'm sure many others) am very grateful! Keep up the good work ED, onwards and upwards!
Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 A pretty tragic version of the Friday update saga was what used to happen down at the 1C Forums during Il-2 Cliffs of Dover (which, funnily enough, was marketed in Russia as Il-2: Battle For Britain :D), the forums were a shitestorm more often than not, and the developer's team vanished for a good few months, and whenever they returned they used to be pretty hurt by the attitude of some users. The inconsiderate/disrespectful ones gave a bad image of the community itself, and that ruined it for everyone else. I'm glad these boards have proven more mature and cooled down since then. These updates are absolute gold, and are amazing in terms of transparency. But they're a favour the devs are doing to keep us entertained while we wait, not an obligation :)
Yellonet Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I only worry that ED read all of the negative posts and assume they form the majority of customer opinion - well they don't!How do you know that? i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
112th_Rossi Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 How do you know that? Well I would think that since most comments on this forum are benign or positive in general and the fact that users who don't post on this forum can be assumed to be happy enough not to post anything negative I would say that most users are happy with ED products. Most reviews of A10C would reflect this too.
outlawal2 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Thank you DCS and the third party devs for bringing the home flight simulator to the point of being damned close to real flight... As a simmer since I was just a kid with an Amiga 500, I have seen everything from simple block graphics or 4 color wire frame all the way until today and the amazing realism that DCS has provided. As a man that had the dream of becoming a helicopter pilot crushed by the sheer economics of the endeavor I am so grateful to DCS for providing a platform that allows me to get at least a PIECE of the absolute joy and thrill that IS flight to me. (My real life experience is minimal for sure, but enough that I am hooked for life! ) And the fact that DCS provides this level realism for FREE (DCS world download and SU25 plane) is amazing... I remember when cutting edge was the 4 color wire frame stuff and we gladly paid $49 for it THEN... The fact that we can still pay $49 (give or take) and receive the level of realism and depth that DCS provides is simply incredible. Thanks to DCS and a big thanks to Belsimtek for the new Huey module.. The Black Shark used to be my favorite but the realism and the continued and constant effort to tweak the Huey for us is much appreciated! It is already my new fave and I am anxiously awaiting whatever rotor craft you folks intend to release and have cash in-hand earmarked for each and every rotary craft you folks decide to build for us... Bring them on! "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO

MVSokie Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 As a lover of anything aviation real or simulated, DCS has become my escape, I love and fly every vehicle they have thrown out there to date and will continue as long as they keep making them, the only other flight sim I fly anymore is Rise of Flight but then ED and third parties have not made a WWI era plane yet, :) but wouldn't that be something, smaller niche though. keep building ED and ill keep buying and flying. bojangles_25 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I love the idea of weekly updates.. Little and often will be very welcome. DCS is serious software and most people can't appreciate whats involved in development/testing.. Its seldom mentioned that ED must be putting in an awful lot of continuous work. I don't know exactly how much man-power they have, but just look at the massive list of additions/fixes we get in a minor update! 1.2.3 to 1.2.4 etc... makes me wonder how good 1.3 will be. Thanks ED for all your hard work so far. The weekly updates will be just another reason to love Fridays :) "We could come back with hydraulics shot out, half the tail shot off, piece of the wing shot off, we had two engines and could come home with one... She really was a piece of machinery that you could fly into hell and back... And she was designed around that gun from day 1"
