WildBillKelsoe Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I purchased 2 addons for FSX: 1- PBY Catalina by aerosoft (which is so nice) 2- Captain Sim's C-130 experience all in one package (still discovering, but OK) I will post video reviews on the first page. I would like to thank all those that offered suggestions, and I can say with confidence that my next 2 purchases will be Airbus A320/321 extended by Aerosoft, and Cessna Citation Mustang by Flight1. I would appreciate if you subscribe to this thread as I constantly update with reviews from now on. Cheers everybody, drinks on me! :) AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. The AS-bus-extended must be pretty good, but it's not on par with simulators like PMDG. Once FSlabs release their bus I might fly it. Sharpe_95 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) Is The VRS, FSX Superbug A suitable Training Tool For CD's Future F/A18E? Hi Guys, It occurs to me that there is a high fidelity F/A18E available for FSX, produced by VRS. I appreciate that a lot of this is conjecture atm but I was wondering what peoples views were on whether or not this would be a good/accurate 'training tool' to get up to speed on the F/A18E's systems etc? I ask in eager anticipation of CD's F/A18E hopefully some time next year (dare I say/hope for early next year). It would be good to get some of the learning curve out the way with before CD's release. The only real questions are: a) How well modelled is the VRS Super Hornet b) How well modelled will the CD Super Hornet be? - One assumes that if they are both done to a very high and realistic standard then there should'nt be much difference between them in terms of using/learning the systems and I for one would love to get ahead of the learning curve pre DCS release of the CD Super Hornet. Any thoughts anyone? Does anyone own/use VRS Super Hornet in FSX - how is it? -Sharpe Edited August 29, 2013 by Sharpe_95
SUBS17 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I own the VRS Superhornet it is a very well done addon for FSX. You will learn a lot about the Superhornets characteristics when you fly it ideally you want the following for FSX: FSX FSX Acceleration VRS Superhornet plus TACPACK(both payware) Javiers Carriers(freeware) AICARRIERS2(freeware) Dinos T45C(freeware to learn carrierops with) and vLSO(freeware-used to grade your carrier landings based on real life carrier landing grades) There is also a couple of freeware mods for the FSX Acceleration hornet: FSXVBA Hornet Sludges Hornet  [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

Scoggs Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Simply put it is amazing. To be honest. I hope CD reaches VRS' level of fidelity. If you can run FSX the I highly suggest the VRS Rhino because it is nothing short of amazing, especially with Tac-Pac. EDIT: I own the VRS Bug and have litterally 100's of hours in it. CD and VRS also use the same radar(apg-73) My SpecsAsus Maximus Hero IX Z270 i7 7700k @ 4.7GHz 32GB G.SKILL TridentZ 3700MHz DDR4 EVGA RTX 2080Ti Samsung 960 Evo 1TB M.2 NVME SSD EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2 Acer XB270HU 144Hz @ 1440p (IPS) Valve Index OOOOhhh, I wish I had the Alpha of a Hornet!
SkateZilla Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 there's a Reason the VRS Superbug continues to win "Best FSX Addon" awards.. Simply put, because it IS the best Addon available. The quality of the product is unmatched. If i were to come back to FSX, the VRS Bug would be the reason why, I miss it, but I cant afford FSX, just having it installed gives me a reason to buy terrain packs and stuff. mvsgas Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I tried VRS and did not like it and did not believe it to be very accurate. Specifically anything engine related, Radar (A2A or A2G) and some other small things. Most are limitations from Flight simulator, but I do not think it was a great simulation, I am sure is very good, when compared o other FX addons, but I do not believe VRS F-18 would be helpful. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
-Rudel- Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 If FSX is too expensive or can't run well on your machine, why not give Jane's F/A-18 a try? The FM may not be the greatest, but at least the avionics are detailed enough to mimic VRS'. I had no issues transitioning, because I was familiar with it. Even the carrier landings. Learning to get a feel for flying it in DCS should be no issues as long as you know the avionics and check-lists. Which JF18 can help out with. https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
SkateZilla Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 there should be a new Jane's F-18 Mod coming, where it's been completely overhauled, as a Team has acquired the source code (or so I've heard).
