FC-3:Which future for Su 33?

Hi i am RQ-03 Miroo ; from the virtual French 3rd-wing . we are a team of pilots flying on several planes of DCS & FC3 .I am flying at the 279th KIAP squadron with 6 others pilots on the Su-33 Flanker D.

During the last updates of DCS we mad the sad fact that the Su-33 is not considered during the bug fix process .The "Flanker D" didn't benefit of any major upgrade since the FC3 release:

 

·1.2.3 update :

-FC3. Fixed Su-33 sinking to the Kuznetsov deck near the superstructure.

-FC3. Fixed simulator hang after ALT J jumping into an Su-33.

-FC3. Fixed data link for clients in multiplayer - MiG-29S and Su-27/33.

-Added S-8TsM and S-8OFP2 rockets to inventory of MiG-29A/G/S and Su-33

-Corrected Su-27/30/33/34 engine thrust value

 



1.2.4 update:

-New skins for the Su-27 and Su-33.

-Fixed Su-33 getting stuck near island on the Kuznetsov deck

This led to get a Beta Su-33 on FC3 (which is no longer a beta!!).

 

 

And more interesting, that the only carrier based aircraft get the ugliest 3D model compared to the other aircrafts:

-The nose, the EOS, the back of the engines and the canopy are octagons;

 

 

 

 

 

 

-The air intakes are blackened, compressors and turbines are absents;

 

 

 

 

-The nozzles are static and fixed in the closed position even with idle rpm or after burner.

 

 

 

-The landing gear is without details.

It’s a joke comparing to the same family Flanker Su-27 Model; although the aircrafts have a very similar geometry.

 

 

 

Now let’s go inside the cockpit; we still have a 2D cockpit a bit below the Ricardo HD cockpit in FC2 , when the A-10A , F-15c ,Su-25 and the Su-27 get full 3D 6DOF cockpits (did they pay a more expensive license….i don’t think so !!!) . What are the differences between the 27/33 cockpits?

-04 LEDs in the armament control panel;

-The AOA indicator;

-01 LED in the gear system indicator for the tailhook .

That’s all folks ….The question then is: Why the Flanker D wasn’t upgraded with a 3D cockpit 6DOF??!

 

 

I can’t understand, and I am sure that I am not the only one, why ED is neglecting the Su-33. I think that is a good opportunity to develop the Su-27 with its aircraft carrier version for further modules in mid core , this will allow a wider choice to fans of the Flankers , and to keep a balance US/RUS if the Hornet F-18c is coming out as announced .

 

 

Anyway, here a list of some bugs found during multiplayer session with the last update of DCS 1.2.4:

In this session there were 1Host and 2 clients

 

· When the three aircrafts are on the carrier; the host see the clients’ aircraft floating up at 1 meter from the deck, and the clients see the host also floating; but client/client there is no problem.

 

 

 

· Abnormal response of the nose wheel during movements of the aircraft carrier with the waves.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

· Onset aircraft shifted and lagged on the deck before takeoff, the host and the client1 see themselves in the right positions but both of them see the client 2 shifted from his reported position on the deck about 50-100 meter

.And also the client 2 see the host and the client 1 shifted from there reported positions .

 

· Strange effect of the wind when taxiing on airfields. For example if there a wind coming from the right, the plane is deported to the right O_o???!

 

And here are some wishes for the next update ^_^

· Getting a better 3D model of the Su-33 and also a new full 3D 6DOF cockpit ;

· A better AFM for the Su-33;

· When selecting on the mission editor: “ takeoff from ramp” , starting in the slots of the parking area on the deck with engines stopped just like an airfield , this is to avoid starting two or more aircrafts on the same position .

 

 

 

We hope this post will help ED team to improve the Su-33 in further updates of DCS/FC-3, and also keep in mind that the Su-33 is still a very popular within the community ... So keep him alive. Thanks

I would very much like to fly a 6DOF SU33 with an upgraded external 3D model. And AFM.

Should ED make this a new standalone module, I'd buy it in an instant.

What are the differences between the 27/33 cockpits?

 

Too numerous to list.

If you mean the station readiness panel, then exactly that shouldn't be different - the real Su-33 pit has the same one as in the Su-27(only 10 stations indicated).

 

-The AOA indicator;

-01 LED in the gear system indicator for the tailhook .

That’s all folks ….

 

I suggest you take a closer look - then you might realise that practically everything is different.

 

- the front instrument panel and varies instruments are different

- the side consoles/instrumentation are different

- varies handles and other bits that arent properly replicated in the sim's current Su-33 pit.

 

The question then is: Why the Flanker D wasn’t upgraded with a 3D cockpit 6DOF??!

 

I cannot speak for ED, but the fact that the Su-33 pit is completely different from the Su-27 ditto would seem to have something to do with it.
