Was the F-35's competition. You don't even need to know anything about this plane to see why it lost the acquisition program

As a few have said, the f-35 will at first fly full stealth to take out key targets while escorted by F-22s. They will be In constant communication through data link, and one air dominance has been achieved, they will start loading externals and really start bringing the pain.

So, does that mean (if well understood) it is the coverage of the antennas (per band) of the F-35 around its airframe?

But I thought it has a full spherical coverage

I would take all that with a grain of salt.

Here is some other info:

Nov 2005: The U.S. Air Force, in it’s effort to get money to build more F-22s, has revealed just how “stealthy” the F-22 is. It’s RCS (Radar Cross Section) is the equivalent, for a radar, to a metal marble. The less stealthy (and much cheaper) F-35, is equal to a metal golf ball. The F-35 stealthiness is a bit better than the B-2 bomber, which, in turn, was twice as good as that on the even older F-117.

And taken from Ben Rich's book about the Skunk Works.

So they perch the F-117 or Have Blue or Senior Trend or other code name model on the wooden pole, or whatever. The Sandia engineer says something is wrong, as they can't get a "baseline" RCS or whatever. Just then a bird lands on the model and the equipment gets a reading. He tells the Lockheed folks, "O.K., our equipment is working now". And this was over 20 years ago.

A lot of info, and pulling in different direction. Some say it's crap, some say it's good.

Truth is, we will never know, and the military will never reveal the true numbers...

But it's fun to speculate :)

You are right we will not know for certain, but I dont think it will be too long before enough of this info leeks out for us to get a pretty good idea of its stealthiness, or we could just ask the Chinese....

I think it means how vulnerable it is to other radar spectrums. Meaning VHF and L band have almost no resistance to it.

I would take all that with a grain of salt.

Take it for what it's worth but the author also references a certain website that nobody here takes seriously.

It´s not about looks.. the thing that I like about this plane is that it was waaaaayyyyy cheaper than the actual F-35.. it was a delta wing (so no need for conventional elevators), easier construction and the hover mechanism was much simpler and with at least half of moving parts.. the plane was supposed to be cheap..

Still a very funny picture :megalol:

I kinda wish they'll cancel this, to dedicate their efforts to something "better" for DCS (a fourth gen fighter).

WOW.

I get that you dont like the project but the selfishness and disregard you show for all the people in this community that are looking forward to it is simply astonishing.

if you dont like it you dont have to buy it. why wish for it to fail is beyond me.

on another note. the latest screens seem promising thank for the update. seems like the kickstarter isnt going to make it but looking forward to being part of the opeval anyway.

I admire the determination showed by the KI team. so much pointless criticism can undermine anyone. thankfully I think the support shown by a large part of the community is will keep you guys going.

LOL dude why do you even participate in this thread?

It must be because this thread is in the DCS forum.

Hundreds of people feeling positive and happy at a possible F-35 and a professional team taking an interest in our our sim World which should make ED wealthier.

It would be better to concentrate the effort for something better IMO.

But still you manage to somehow only see the bad side.

No, I don't.

Lighten up man, it's just a computer game.

Exactly.

And I kinda wist they wont, because I think we have been stuck in the 80s for far too long.

I agree, but it would suits much better with the whole rest.. eventually.

But the problem isn't just about the era (what about the P52?), but about the info available for a certain aircraft (we discussed much about it in the previous pages tho).
