Yeah , the F-105 float's my boat big time . Big dirty fast mud mover . Don't know how well it really would stand up in a modern day battlefield ..... as its fairly outdated now .

I would LOVE an F-105D in DCS. One of my favorite aircraft. Thud Ridge is still required reading for USAF officers I'm told.

 

As for how it would stand up in a modern battlefield it's hard to say, it is still one of the fastest aircraft at sea level and its bomb load is pretty impressive. Aiming those bombs is certainly a challenge but you can wreck a pretty large area with a 4 ship flight of F-105s.

 

No pesky back end multiseat stuff to work out either unlike the F-15E or F-111

I personally would love to see a system built into a modern simulator that requires the use of a license system. for eg: start with a trainer aircraft with no weapons systems and have to pass certain missions to unlock more advanced aircraft. i only free fly and do formation flying these days and i personally haven't found a more stable multiplayer system then lomac. i fly from Australia with people in Greece and despite having 500 ping we can fly with in inches of each other without having spikes causing crashes. fsx however its like someone is dangling there aircraft on a string and bouncing it up and down.

 

it will be awesome the day comes when my friend who likes to fly airliners can load up his KC10 and fly around over dcsw and then we can rock up with our jets and he could switch to the rear boom view and control it while guiding us over the mic's :D

BeachAv8r - I would love to see the A4 and the A6 or even a prowler. I think the Vietnam era was enough to be more reliant on skills than technology but also still fast jets, mud movers, sead, carrier landings and refuelling etc. Would be mint.

I don't know why, but the F-105 does something for me. Maybe the name Thunderchief excites me? Regardless it is an awesome aircraft. Now that baby makes me want some alone time!

 

I'm sure there will be someone within the year to grasp the kickstarter for the Vietnam

era. There should be a lot of material out there to support the level of detail on the level of

the A-10C also.

When this happens, I will probably say goodbye to the outside world! I already daydream about weasel missions in the F-105G. SAM hunts are where the real action is.

Its a must for DCS to have 105D, F and G variants. In my humble opinion :D

 

Anyone wanting inspiration: Thud Ridge, Jack Broughton (as mentioned above), 100 Missions North by Ken Bell (dec) and Ed Rasimus's When Thunder Rolled and even his later book Palace Cobra.

 

I have Dash-1's and various USAF paperwork on the 105 out the ying yang for anyone who wants to start one off for DCS and £500 (GBP) to the first Vietnam Theatre Kickstart program.

 

Ron, pls, may we have a 105? :)
