New information appreciated

Hey to all you UH-1 crazed.

 

Let me start with saying, it's not my attention to complain or to force anything out of BST.

So I ask anyone who plans to only comment with "[...] meh, all the complaining always, it's beta, wait and see [..]" to not comment at all in the first place and let those who are interested in information be heard.

What I'd like to do is, on behalf of everyone who's asking oneself the same questions, to very politely ask BST if they have any new information worth sharing with us.

 

It's 1,5 months since we last heard anything regarding the development stage of the UH-1.

Looking at some recent threads, there are concerns about no new info for quite some time among the community.

 

Please, BST, give us new information about what's going on.

Neither am I asking for a release date, nor for when we get the next game update.

Just asking for some information that no doubt will be appreciated by everyone, even by those who don't admit it and tell everyone else to stay calm.

Communication with the community is not one of their strong points.

 

Look at the newsflashes from Studio Beczl. Some behind the scenes screenshots to tease and just to let you know they're working on it would be nice to see from BST...

Good luck.. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting some constant flow of information from them. Hell... I dont think there were even going to tell us of the price change for the Huey.. lol.

I mean absolutely no offence BST, I love your Huey and I am confident that the Mi-8 will be just as amazing, but if I could make just one suggestion, take a page from studio beczl, maybe not weekly, but every two weeks, give us a small update, some screens maybe, just to keep us informed, I will obviously buy the Mi-8 on day one, but it would be better from the customers point of view to get some updates now and again.

I don't think that's really the point. It's not a choice of "90% here or there," it's not a zero sum game. Some more comms would be great, I'm a patient guy but this lack of comms is getting a big frustrating. Especially for a beta.

Not only that but the Mi-8 is nearly out yet we know almost nothing about it.

...at least there are some Screenshots around...so there is happening something...but how about ED?!?! I mean..we all wait for the F-18 or the SU-27 in DCS Level...but there is absolutley NOTHING...I searched the Formus like mad..because I want a Fighter in DCS...I found nothing...no Information on Development at all. A Fighter is really missing here..if I would be in ED...the DCS Level Fighter would be Prio 1..because EVERYBODY is waiting for it:joystick:

What is it you guys want, for them to waste time on the forums telling you they are still working on those things they already announced? They obviously aren't done, and as threads like this prove, I doubt they will announce anything they have planned after for fear of being hounded by the impatient (thanks by the way, because I do like news, especially the kind that gives me something to look forward to). paulrkiii put my thoughts forward best. But to be honest, you guys asking for info all the time are the minority, not the other way around. Why not try and find something else to do (like actually play dcs) while you wait for more news?

I heard that in September they wish to release Mi-8 beta. That is great but, with such little info and the "Huey sale" problem the buying speed I think it will be very slow and adding the fact that complains will exist (that's a given :D ) they might have a bad taste about it and this will not help but further aggravate this "no info" attitude.

 

You can see in individual people such depressive attitude. They don't talk, they expect everyone will know and appreciate their artistic work... obviously this does not happens because little people know about it and the ones who know are mostly "critics"... then the depression deepens... even less info is released for further work... and so on..

 

And that is... depressive :D.

Do you seriously think that collecting some screenshots and writing down a few lines about the progress they've made is going to slow down the development process? In theory yes, but it is not significant and the happy, well informed community is well worth it. News updates also attract attention as people share these things on other forums and facebook. If every update would at least attract one potential customer it would be already be a great investment [the time to write an update].

 

But seriously, saying that it is not worth it because it slows down development is like saying that I'm always looking in the past because light reflected from the object I'm looking at travels at 30000km/s and thus needs some time to get to my eyes.

Models?! I am not talking about Screenshots..you know for example there are pretty good Models for the UH-60 and the OH-58 already in Game..what should me tell that?!?!...is there any Development going on that we are all not aware off??! I am not complaining. I just wonder:)

I don't think there is any thing wrong with them keeping tight lipped about whats in the next update.

To say anything about what we would be getting would only result in the community here holding them to it if you don't say anything you can't be held accountable.

Currently ED don't say anything about updates until its ready and rolled out then you get a list of whats included and maybe a teaser or 2 of what they are currently working on with no dates for release.

The Mi-8 is approaching the final stages of development so there is enough to tease about. If updates for the Mig-21 are interesting, how could the almost beta DCS: Mi-8 require an automated script for updates?

 

I think it's important for a developer to let potential buyers know what is going on behind the scenes. Look at how games these days are promoted long before they will be released. A good example is Rome II Total War, which owes much of it's support and pre-orders to the many preview and behind-the-scenes video's.

 

I don't understand why some people on these forums consider newsflashes, screenshot updates as not necessary. You should think of it as an investment for BST. One that will pay for itself after release or during pre-order.

This seems to be a general issue with Belsimtek.

 

The Huey really rocked big time but the price drop a month later in beta stages never got an official comment so only the hardcore like myself will buy new products in beta stage on day one. When you look around the other main third party forums there so much information and actively between the Dev's talking to the community.

 

They will do great as there pumping out these top grade helicopters but they could do better if they handled their fans and community better, it does not take a lot of time to jump on a forum and engage with the community.

 

I was surprised at how much time the Relic Dev's spend in the CoH2 community but then they have SEGA funding...
