How many people have Degrees or Business Licences?

A rough Example:

I work in Retail, and 90% of our Stock is marked down within a 1 week period to keep it moving after the initial rush of sales when it's new.

What you say is true, but the last word, ''new'' is not.

Here we are talking for ''unfinished'' beta products, not new.

EDIT: Imagine if Ferrari sold 50 preorders of a car, then after a month, with no deliveries, dropped their preorder sales to 60% , that means people that gave 100.000$ to preorder a new car were so...

welll after 2 weeks F#%$# them, lets drop the price of the preorder to 40.000$.

In our situation , the amount of money doesnt really matters. what matters is what is done...

With all respect

Who said the reason for the store marking things down had anything to do with physical space?

Basically,

gather your own dev team. Make a DCS level module. Start selling...

do NOT put it on sale.

See how better you do then the modules that are on sale.

Bankrupt team.

Come here and apologize for being an expert financial manager without the expertize and insight to back it up.

Set the first price a bit lower (~$35). Then, at the next sale, sell it for $25.

Eveybody's happy.

Well it was the best example I could give, I dont think there's beta versions of Rocawear Jeans...

But like I said before.... Here and in the steam thread when someone was saying the 70% off was making ED lose money.

10 Sales of the Module at $50, vs 50 Sales of the Module at $20. (rough example.)

After the Initial Rush of Sales upon release, sales dwindle. the Only way to spark more sales is to have a Discount Event to spark interest and sales.

It's no different than vendors having flash sales or seasonal sales.

Call it Back to School DCS Sale if you want.

if people get this bent out of shape over $30,

I bought a AMD HD7950 on launch day for $479, then AMD dropped it a month later to $399, and they are about $270 now.... lol

That's really the only issue here. They want their products to sell. Period. BST is just trying to make more money, and the sales seem to be helping them do that.

To all of those who waited, I am very happy for you. For the rest of us who paid full price, and respect our money, we are extremely upset.

Right, because something was taken from you. I forgot.

Oh wait, NOTHING was taken from you. You paid for a product that you received. Crazy I know. Crazy.

Ah geez, there's a sale on? Hmmm, I've been on the fence about buying the Mi-8, maybe this will push me to buy it. $20 is a GREAT price! :D

Seriously guys, do you go back to Futureshop or Walmart to whine because a game you bought later went on sale?

What ED/BST learned from the Huey "stunt" is they got some good sales from the initial pre-release, then exponentially more when they discounted later.

Remember you are one of many customers, so all the whining in the world won't count for much against the bottom dollar value that results from these sales.

I was happy to pay full price for the Huey on day one because I wanted it right away. I decided to wait for the Mi8 and as a result I can now take advantage of the sale. Grown-ups know that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

If you respect your money as much as you say you do, you would have waited for a sale. If you wanted the Mi-8 at or close to release and you were willing to pay full price for it then, you have no grounds for complaint: having it immediately was more important to you than price. If you're complaining now, you obviously didn't actually consider the Mi-8 to be worth the full price when you paid for it, and you should have been prepared to wait for a sale (or for your opinions to change), whether it took two weeks or two years.

I love these threads, theres this sense of (i dont know the word for it), that if i payed for something, no one else should pay less for it.

So what would have happened if it was 14 months later, but you bought it a day before the product went on sale would you still winge about it?

Of course they should be able to sell their products at a discounted price but to do it so soon after "pre-release beta something something" is very arrogant. They should have a rule like, a module has to be out for a certain amount of time before discounts are applicable. I'm not going to complain anymore, I'll just stick with this new principle of mine, not to buy early, not even the MiG-21bis, sorry Bezcl.:(

I think we are all agree to say that it's not a question of money ... It's a question to take care of your Customer maybe more

They have to make money sure and this is normal ... Maybe the question is more : Isn't the realase price too expensive to have to do so big discount so quickly... and so often?

Sale is good... But too often it's become your own enemy

I paid full price for my candy, and it's very disappointing that Wal-mart would treat consumers so badly as to let these uppity newcomers get in almost for free.

There is no question, they are capable of determining when their products go on sale and if its good for their business. If it helps keep the lights on and the sim flowing, what is to question?

I fail to see your point. What if you bought a car for $25,000. Right after that another guy bought the same exact car and paid only $20,000. Would you feel ripped off?

I and many others feel ripped off right now. Yes this is a hobby for us, but I am not a fool with my money. I do not like getting ripped off. Yes I have paid for something THAT IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. ITS NOT DONE YET, and there is no timeline when it will be.

An example from APPLE.

http://www.salon.com/2007/09/06/apple_rebate/

Where early adopters got ripped off and Apple consumers were so upset, that Steve Jobs offered a credit to them.

We are in a similar situation, except the repercussion can be much worse. All of the loyal fans who paid full price and aren't happy, won't be doing it again. The old saying "the customer is always right" still applies here. They fooled us twice now. It will not happen again for many of use.

Yeah, people probably would. ;)

I have huge respect for all the developers here; I think I'd lose my sanity if I had to deal with these sorts of complaints all day every day.

I made the mistake in trusting that BST wouldn't burn us again like they did with the Huey. I put my FAITH in them that they wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

I made a mistake in not waiting for the sale (which I didn't think they would do).

I have worked very hard for the money that I have. I do not like gettting ripped off like this.

Your comparison of the situation is moot.

A. The iPhone wasnt in Beta.

B. The Price reduction was a permanent change, not a Limited Time Sale and was a Result of Poor Sales.

So:

A. The Mi-*MTV2 isnt being Permanently dropped to $19.99, It's a Sale Event.

B. When 1.2.6 Came out, and the Mi-8 MTV2 was released, then the steam sale came, people complained Mi-8 was not part of the sale (because it wasnt on steam, and it was stated that there would be an ED Shop Sale Soon.), So Users had forewarning, Apple Did not fore warn anyone, they permanently dropped the price in response to slow sales, just as Microsoft did with the Surface RT and Surface Pro Tablets.

Im kind of tempted to buy the Black Shark 2. I never did upgrade from BS1, never played much of BS1 anyway, for the same reason why I never bothered to master the A10, the avionics involved are just very hard to learn and the training missions were very canned. How is BS2 compared to the original? Are the training missions better, Im scared the steep learning curve will scare me off.

For reference Im loving the Huey module, its campaign, the missions and its simplicity of use.

Buy the full version so you can remove BS1 from your disks.

I am not a wealthy guy. For me the difference between 50$ and 20$ is very clear.

But Hesus... have some dignity... stop bitching cause is just ridiculous. I would feel ashamed to bitch for such thing.

"Oh my gosh yesterday the pasta was 2.99 now is 1.99... this is a rip off... call the manager!!!"

It's a sale. And it works! I am not a fan of world economics (quite the opposite) but I can see the logic in sales and I agree with it.

Also. Everyone knew that a sales will come in Autumn... why not wait for it? You gave in and now you are trying to find someone guilty. Is your guilt deal with it... like men do.

I knew it will be very soon a sale. But I bought Mi-8 at full cause I didn't trust BST on Huey till I bought it on sale. (Yeah... THE OTHER SALE!) and I want it to thank them in a way... by not being cheap and waiting for the impending sale.

So have a spine... think better THIRD time but stop bitching cause it just makes fools out of your selves.

my 1.99 cents :P
